Hi Cotaliya de la, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Bonjour j’suis Queen Cotaliya de la Livre of the Imperial Court Milner-Meadows de la Livre for those that know me spiritually and for those that don’t BONJOUR I am Cotaliya “the spiritual” Equestrian and Musical Artist. Born and raised into the historical French-Black American household in the middle of beautiful Alabama! Most know me by my royal and historic spiritual status as a traditional and spiritual healer. I own a full apothecary located in Mobile, AL and online store. But I am more than my profession and purpose. Many people expect or only want me to be “THAT” one singular narrative, but it’s only a part of me, I am an equestrian and musical entertainer.
How did I get where I am today? Well, that’s a loaded question because it depends on which part of my life or business. But if I had to say how did I get to where I am today, that is due to my amazing parents and their undying support for all things I desire. And secondly, my amazing support system that works endlessly to see my dreams be fulfilled.
Honestly, I was born into each path I am currently thriving in. I can remember as a child from the age of three all three of my life’s paths the equine world, music world, and traditional spiritual world has always been present. Although I am a traditional spiritual healer by divine purpose and profession my passions have always been music and horses. AND SOON… I will be known professionally in those paths… SOON!
Since the age of three I have been musical inclined from a child and throughout college music has cared for me greatly. I attend Auburn University of a vocal performance scholarship. During that time my profession noticed I distracted and asked what I desired. I replied I am to be a musical entertainer. She then replied, “Well you won’t get that here, what you have and what you want a degree will not get you.” In that moment I already a well-established career as a business owner so I took her advice but still found myself distracted with my businesses and not investing in my passion as a musical artist. After many years and through the pandemic I realize it’s NOW or it could be never. In that moment I begin invest into my artistry.
I am an entertainer, I could be a bar cover singer, but I am not. I dance, move, crawl and express the fullness of my music all while singing so I there are lights and intentional choreography for everything. That being said at this point in my career festivals will be my first stomping grounds. With Atlanta being the first stop if all goes to plan. Pop, Alternative-pop, House and Dance are my focus at the moment. There’s always a sensual element to all of my music because that’s the GODDESS I AM (kisses muah muah). Music and Dance are 2 parts of my 3 part therapy routine. I know in time once these tracks hit the right street, for the right ear ….OH COTALIYA IS COMIN’ THRU!!!! HA!!!!
The second part of my personal development and therapy is my LOVE for all this EQUINE!!! I love my horses! I grew to a family with 80+ acres and nature is so significant to our culture essentially our religion it was no surprise my love for the many beautiful allies provided, and specifically horses. As a child there was nothing and as an adult, there is nothing more moving and thrills my life, sooths my spirit and fulfills my existence than a horse and all their glory. From seeing black cowboys and cowgirls in parades during homecoming games at HBCU’s or visiting family friends that own them.
During my upbring there wasn’t a location nearby that provided equestrian lessons so I didn’t ‘have the opportunity to invest in that passion other than the few occasions I had with that world. So understand this, personally I do not stress about ANYTHING… and during this pandemic, I actually began to experience stress for the first time. But there were things that always provided comfort and clarity for me and one of those things is the earth and spirits of the earth ” Horses” So as an adult during this pandemic I quickly understood how precious life is and if I left this world today, I will not leave this earth unhappy and stressed. So thankfully I have an amazing next-door neighbor who is an equestrian and she introduces me to my piece of heaven on earth. The Amazing Gaits Equestrian Center!
Amazing Gaits Equestrian Center allowed me my escape and space to receive the divine messages of clarity I needed through the pandemic. Beyond that needs it allowed for the first time in my life to invest in my passion for horses and as an equestrian. I was a very successful gymnast and cheerleader competitively. And through that success, I know the dedication and time it takes to be great in life, especially as an athlete which both equestrians and horses are. The owner of Amazing Gaits and personal lesson coach Kathee McGuire has created a space for multilevel riders and owners to enjoy their equine journey I repeat ENJOY and thrive within their equine career if you so desire. From the very beginning, she has been honest and a guiding hand through my growth as an equestrian along with my other amazing coach KarrieAnn Gaskin whose passion for riding and thriving is top-tier. Beyond that my barn family, both yellow and red barns, are UNMATCHED! This community is love in a hay bail.
I have huge goals and desires for my equine career, as a horse owner and who knows what else. I hope to complete or show within this year but I am okay if it’s a little longer… I am going to be GREAT… remember I said it here first!
Soooo that a little insight to me!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
With every path in life, it’s ALL a process. And even living your path in truth and authenticity there are challenges. As we say there’s not a tree that hasn’t experienced rain. And even then rain is necessary. Honestly, my path has had its challenges but due to my traditional upbringing, I welcomed them as divine lessons which has positioned me here.
Blah blah blah… I could make this whole question quite thought-provoking, however let be a little specific. Music… music is only challenging because the industry is difficult to become established and understanding your successes and accomplishment may look different depending on where you are in that journey. But with hard work and the right opportunity YOU WILL MAKE IT…. maybe not how you expected but you will.
As far has horseback riding that is full of daily challenges and the best part of your growth with our equine partners. As difficult as some may speak about equestrian life I honest wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s a long, challenging and most rewarding piece of life that I personally feel everyone should experience …it’s CHURCH FOR ME! I have huge goals that I will achieve with efficiency.
And as far as the spiritual world goes, well don’t get me started….there just isn’t enough room to begin less alone finish. Personally spiritually things are beautifully divine, in the trending world of spiritual business, service and products….well I’ll write a book on that..lol

As stated before I am a traditional spiritual healer and herbalist by profession and divine purpose. I own an the one of kind Conjure South located in Mobile Alabama and online at www.ConjureSouth.Com. The largest element that sets m business apart from literally all others is the historical and royal lineage I am from which dates back to 1700s to present day here in the United States before it was actually the United States, and before Alabama was Alabama for that matter.
There is documentation of my family’s work from French settlers in the 1700s, to my family the first family of color to bring a railroad line to this NATION and founded the city of Benson, Alabama through the 1800s into the 1900s, literally to “the” HARPER LEE, of “To Kill a Mockingbird” actually from a book on our family called ” The Reverend.” And last literally being recognized as Traditional Spiritual Royalty on a variety of countries to this day. Now on the spiritual side of things, I am spiritual worker of traditional folk faith and psychic medium. I provide traditional ceremonies, rituals and services like divination and spiritual “work” per client….which is a large reason why “the” Harper Lee wrote the book on our family. These services cultural assist in the spiritual world NOT energetic world which is where 98% of “business” operate from. This is because everyone is acceptable to energy but not everyone is acceptable culturally. We provide virtual space like our Virtual Community Coven on youtube. There are so many that desire to connect and are looking for the space of community and education and this allows exactly that! We also have our Société of Spirits and Full Moon Sound Session in our location for local and surrounding individualisé looking to connect to abilities of mediumship and sound-healing.
When visiting we provide a spiritual products like candles, salts, dirt, and oils that are spiritually “fixed” with recipes that were directly passed down as well. Our online presence is over a decade old with testimonies that you’ll only believe if you read them for yourself.
As I mentioned earlier this part of my life I was born into nothing I had to connect to or discover which I am blessed for. But regarding my musical journey and equestrian journey you although I didn’t just start these paths I am just starting to invest and document my journey.
