Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Greene.
Courtney, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am 23 years old from Atlanta, GA. I graduated from Spelman College in May 2018 by the grace of God. One of my childhood dreams was to own a spa and salon, both affordable and luxurious. My other dream was to become a lawyer. My junior year before graduation I decided to stop making excuses and determined at that time that there was never going to be the “right “time to start a business. So that summer going into senior year, I packed my bags and headed on a spiritual journey to the Dominican Republic, where I spent the next 30 days working on my mind, body and soul. I also started my first business plan. By the time of graduation, I had come up with a name, logo, and a location for my dream salon and spa. When I walked across the stage at graduation, I had two options continue my education and stay on the path to become a lawyer or take a chance and start a business. I chose to follow my dream of owning a full-service spa and salon.
As of today, I own a full-service spa and salon that offers over 20 different services ranging from massages and facials to hair and nails. You can find us on just about every social media platform, group-on and yelp. Everyday there is a different challenge however, I am grateful that at this point, I have surpassed my expectations. My business has survived its first year. I have been persistent since day 1. I have grown and learned so much from this experience. This business has changed me for the better. It is nothing I love more than making women as well as men and children feel rejuvenated, refreshed and looking and feeling like a brand new person.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has been far from a smooth road. Everyday there is a different obstacle that I must conquer. However, some days are easier than others. One of the key factors that I try to practice everyday is persistency.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the iBougie Salon & Spa story. Tell us more about the business.
iBougie is a salon and spa. We offer massages, facials, teeth-whitening, v- steams, hair, nails, foot detoxes, body contouring, body waxing, lash extensions, make -up and much more. What separates our company is the fact that we truly are a one stop glam shop especially for the women. We have great customer service and a wonderful staff that goes over any beyond the call of duty to ensure that every client leaves satisfied, rejuvenated and relaxed.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I anticipate within the next 5 – 10 year iBougie will be a franchise company. People all over the world would want to invest in an iBougie. By that time, I would hope that the company would have added a wet area that includes a hot tub, dry sauna room, steam room, a gym and even a restaurant.
