My Story – Courtney Lott, Founder of Faithful Adoption Consultants

My name is Courtney Lott, and I founded Faithful Adoption Consultants back in September of 2008 — but really, the story started a little before that, when my husband and I adopted our first child.

That experience completely changed our lives. We walked through so much uncertainty and emotion, and at times, it felt like we were navigating it all alone. We realized how powerful it would have been to have someone walking beside us — someone who had been there, who could guide us through the unknowns and hold our hand through the waiting. That realization became the heartbeat behind Faithful Adoption Consultants.

From the very beginning, our mission has been simple: to walk families through the adoption process from beginning to end — not just as professionals, but as people who deeply understand the joy, the heartbreak, and the sacred beauty of what it means to say “yes” to adoption.

Over the years, God has grown our family in ways we never could have imagined. My husband and I have eight children — six through adoption and two biologically — ranging in age from 23 to 11. Our family is beautifully diverse, both in ethnicity and in ability. We’ve adopted children with special needs and children from different backgrounds, and each one has stretched and shaped us in ways that only God could orchestrate.

Since 2008, we’ve had the honor of walking alongside families in over 3,000 adoptions. Every single one is a miracle. Every single one is a reminder that God is still writing stories of redemption and belonging.

For me, there’s nothing more humbling than watching Him build families — piece by piece, heart by heart — through adoption. It’s our greatest joy and our life’s calling to have a front row seat to that kind of beauty.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all — but I think that’s part of what makes it sacred.

Adoption is beautiful, but it’s also hard. It’s born out of loss — and learning to hold both the beauty and the brokenness together has been one of the greatest lessons of my life. Through our own adoptions, we’ve walked through heartache, waiting, uncertainty, and times where we didn’t understand what God was doing. There were moments that stretched our faith to the breaking point — financially, emotionally, and spiritually.

Building Faithful Adoption Consultants has had its own challenges, too. When I started this company, I didn’t have a business background — just a deep conviction and a calling. There were seasons where I wondered if we could keep going, or if I was truly equipped to lead. Balancing motherhood to eight kids (many with special needs) and running a business that serves hundreds of families each year has tested my limits and forced me to depend completely on God.

But even in the hard, I’ve seen His faithfulness over and over again. Every trial has refined me. Every waiting season has deepened my trust. Every family we’ve served has reminded me that God truly writes the most beautiful stories out of what looks impossible.

So no — it hasn’t been smooth. But it’s been worth it. Every tear, every challenge, every “yes” has led to miracles — both in my own home and in the lives of thousands of families we’ve had the honor to serve.

We’ve been impressed with Faithful Adoption Consultants, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Faithful Adoption Consultants was born out of a very personal story — our own. After walking through our first adoption, my husband and I saw firsthand how overwhelming and emotional the process can be. We also realized how deeply families need someone in their corner — not just to handle logistics, but to truly walk with them through every step of the journey. That’s why I founded Faithful Adoption Consultants in 2008: to provide families with the support, education, and encouragement they need from start to finish.

At Faithful Adoption Consultants, we specialize in domestic infant adoption consulting. Our team guides families through the entire process — from getting home study ready to connecting with adoption agencies and attorneys across the country. We don’t place children; instead, we serve as advocates, mentors, and a bridge between hopeful adoptive parents and licensed adoption professionals.

What sets us apart is our heart. Every person on our team has a personal connection to adoption — whether as adoptive parents, adoptees, or birth mothers. We lead with compassion, faith, and a deep understanding of what this journey really looks like. We’re not just walking families through paperwork; we’re walking them through life-changing moments — through waiting, heartbreak, and ultimately, the miracle of saying “yes” to a child.

We’ve had the privilege of walking alongside families for over 3,000 adoptions since we opened our doors, and every single story is sacred to us. Our greatest joy is seeing God build families in His perfect timing and watching lives transformed in the process.

If there’s one thing I’d want readers to know, it’s this: adoption is not a business to us — it’s a calling. Every family we serve is prayed for, every child is cherished, and every story is treated as the miracle that it is.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happiest are the moments that remind me of God’s goodness — the big and the small ones.

It’s watching my kids — all eight of them — laughing together around the dinner table, knowing that every story that brought them home was messy and miraculous and perfectly woven by God. It’s seeing a family I’ve worked with finally hold their baby for the first time after years of waiting and praying. Those moments take my breath away every single time.

I also find so much joy in the ordinary — quiet mornings with coffee and Jesus, car rides full of laughter, late-night talks with my husband, seeing God’s faithfulness in places I didn’t expect it.

Happiness for me isn’t about everything being easy or perfect — it’s about recognizing the beauty in the middle of the chaos. It’s about finding joy in God’s presence, even when the road has been hard. That’s where I find peace. That’s where I find real happiness.
