Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Bailey.
Crystal, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started in the industry of music and entertainment, specifically in fashion. I was a publicist who often had to host events for my clients. I realized I had a love for the events and that they were always successful. It wasn’t until 2007 when my aunt asked me to do her wedding for her. For me it was just for fun. I had no idea it would turn into my career. I got so much great feedback; events started picking up left and right. I later began what was known as Bailey PR & Events in 2009. My business continued to grow but in 2014, I had my daughter and my husband asked me to be a stay a home mom. It wasn’t the ideal for me but I sacrificed my business for my family. In 2016, my husband was killed on the night before Christmas eve in front of our home, causing my life to fall drastically apart and change forever.
At the time, I was working as a principal. I wasn’t happy and knew with all I had going on. Something wasn’t right. I prayed one day and asked God to show me the way. He showed me my business. I quit my job. Thirty days later, I opened my own events space and began doing events again. It wasn’t until the fall of 2018 that I knew I wanted to take my career seriously and that it was my passion. I rebranded, studied under the best in the industry, such as Preston Bailey, PEP, Kathy Romero, just to name a few. I rebranded and my career skyrocketed. I began to be called the curator of experiences and the lead planner in Philadelphia, tri-state. This year right before the pandemic, I branched into ATL to open a second office. Covid-19 stopped the show and pushed back my official launch date but it didn’t stop our work. We have been doing events in ATL and have big things in the works. I recently took on a mentorship with the industry great Karleen Roy of the vanity group to fine-tune at the Luxury Level, and I am now Crystal Bailey Events with so many things getting ready to release to the world.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. I have had my businesses stolen in other cities and fully copied. I have lost my venue and office space due to a landlord not paying taxes and had to reopen in a new location. I lost my home, car, career and had to start over from scratch; the list goes on! I became a single mother in the midst of the journey, but God has kept me, so I wouldn’t say I struggled; I would say I climbed the mountain, a very rocky mountain!

Crystal Bailey Events is a full-service event production company that plans upscale luxury events. We have a sub-company called BLuxe Weddings and our in house wedding planners plan lavish weddings. I am the CEO and the event producer, the creative of the business. I know for curating experiences and setting the vibe! Wow, factors and the unimaginable is what I do! If it’s extreme, it’s up my alley. If it’s clean and dainty, that’s me too!
As a company, I am most proud of my growth to start over from scratch in 2017 and drastically develop into a luxury brand in just three years and be known all over in different states that still blow my mind. Like I have students in Cali, I am just blessed. I am still learning and growing and I am proud of that too! I am not perfect, just a perfectionist to my dreams.
What sets me apart is there is always an element of production and surprise that’s next level. Everything I do is unique it’s never seen somewhere else, well-replicated but I only do original concepts. And cant leave this out my customer service is A1, hands down cant be touched!
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Whew! Thanks to covid, we are making major shifts, a lot of virtual and creativity. We are on an intimate trend right now so we have to turn big ideas into small concepts and that’s okay, but I live for over massive top production. We won’t be back to normal for another 1-2 years, maybe three.
