Meet Crystal Miller of Georgia’s Sweet Treats in Forest Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Miller.

Crystal, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
In 2006, I decided to bake some cupcakes to see if my co-workers would like them. At first, I was giving them away and then they started paying me!! It was .25 at first then .50 and so on I was like hmmmm I’m on to something here…lol Then I was encouraged to take a class at Hobby Lobby for cake decorating and I did. After that my business TOOK OFF!!!

Those very same people that were my co-workers back in 2006 still currently support me 13 years later.. Its a passion that I have, I don’t do it simply for the money. To see the expression on my client’s faces when they walk in and see their “Sweet Treats” means the world to me!!!!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Whats a smooth road?…lol I’m sure if it were a smooth road, I would have moved on to something else.. See when God gives you pure talent you have to really work and go through some ups and downs before the beautiful ending comes.. I can remember my UGLY cake stage right on to my OK now look at me I’m getting this to now where I am always looking for ways to perfect my craft. In this line of business, you can always grow no matter what there is something new coming out everyday and we have to keep up.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Georgia’s Sweet Treats LLC story. Tell us more about the business.
I am responsible for everything from taking orders to making sure every single detail is correct. I’m not really sure that I have a specialty because I make all different types if “Sweet Treats”. My number one seller is my Strawberry Shortcake Cheesecake followed by my strawberry cupcakes. The thing that I am the most proud of as a company is the fact that I am able to put smiles on so many faces, the fact that I am always behind the surprise of someone’s event and when they actually get to see what I’ve created that very look on their faces makes everything that I do all worth it. What sets me apart from others I’d say… I always put my all in what I do I don’t just do what the customer ask I will always make sure that I exceed their expectations every single time. In doing that, I ensure that they are not only happy they are guaranteed to do two things… (1) Tell everyone about their experience and (2) Become a repeat customer, which is a goal with every single client that I come in contact with.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’m sure you’ve heard this so many times but I honestly do not believe in LUCK… I believe that I am blessed. I have no one to thank for my talent but God. In this business we can take all types of classes and watch all types of online videos but until we get in the kitchen and make mistakes and learn from them we will not learn. Everything we learn is through trial and error. It gets hard now don’t get me wrong and YES there are time where we want to give up but at that very moment you have to take a minute pray and get right back to work. Now it may and or may not work out for you right then but if you never give up, you will get it trust me!!!
