Today we’d like to introduce you to Cynthia Mbangue.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I began this journey with my mind set on wanting to make childcare easier and more affordable for parents. As a young child, I personally experienced going to daycare and my younger Brother also attending. It was a blessing my Mother was an employee at the Daycare, however, for some of the Mothers, they seemed to have completely different experiences with day-to-day operations than my Mom. I could not figure it out and really at that age, it was nothing more than a blur. The older I became, it started to make sense. Childcare was way too expensive and honestly, many parents just could not afford it. Daycares are way too costly and finding the right childcare provider to trust with your child personally just seems like a nightmare at times! I got to an age of maturity and with each child I added under my belt, it dawned on me what my passion was- children. By 12 years old, I was already caring for my younger sibling and other infants & toddlers on my own.
During my years in middle school, high school and college, I volunteered for several after-school programs in my community to assist with Preschool through Elementary kids helping them with homework, social activities to promote confidence and positive self-esteem, art projects and other forms of educational programs to engage with during their duration at our program. I worked with various companies & have networked with hundreds of business owners equipping me with so many positive avenues to further my passion in Early Childhood Education and business.
The establishment of Cyn’s Play Place was originally to help mend the bridge between costly Daycare and affordable in-home childcare services. Being a Mom myself, I understand the importance of reliable, trustworthy childcare. I wanted to provide a service for the many parents who feel they do not have options.
So…I created a new lane in the childcare industry! I took owning a childcare business to another level by pushing my limits and testing my faith!
Has it been a smooth road?
It has definitely not been the smoothest road. As with every new business, setting the foundation such as policies, prices, hiring, etc. have been challenging. The biggest struggle for me was finding staff that could not only meet requirements but whom also stood by the company’s values. Thankfully, we’ve been able to remain consistent with a strong team that has continued to grow.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Cyn’s Play Place story. Tell us more about the business.
What sets us apart is that we are a childcare company that has grown enormously! Cyn’s Play Place is dedicated to contributing to the continuous growth and development of children from infants to school age. We believe in establishing high self-esteem, unshakable bonds, and resourceful educational tools to help them gain the knowledge and skills they will need as they grow older.
We’re proud that we are a company that focuses on building relationships. Our goal is to give children the ability to grow into motivated young learners from a young age. Through education and nurturing, we strive to build confidence, and strong bonds with them that will allow them to be socially, emotionally, and physically able to reach their full potential. It is our commitment and policy to provide a program that exceeds the requirements of all parents by maintaining an atmosphere of kindness, respect, cooperation, and integrity throughout all staff and community for all children.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The childcare industry is constantly changing. From daycare centers to in-home services, there’s a common goal and that’s to provide a program that answers the very many needs of families across the country. This industry isn’t going anywhere childcare will always be an essential need for households with children.
For many households, nannying and babysitting is surely leading the way when it comes to convenience and flexibility.
