Meet Daijah Murphy of Murph in Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daijah Murphy.

Daijah, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Born and raised in Brunswick GA, moved to Atlanta GA in 2015 after doing a semester at Savannah State University after graduating high school in 2014. I didn’t enjoy college, so I started acting and booked a recurring extra role on Oprah’s show called Green Leaf in which was my reason for relocating to Atlanta GA. I also did a film called Fist Fight, starring Ice Cube and Charlie Day, and a few other television opportunities. I begin to start doing music because it’s always been a passion of mines but decided to take it seriously after winning a showcase put together by a few of Atlanta hottest radio personalities Ferrari Simmons, Fly Guy DC, BT & Mrvsaid. It’s been a journey. I am now apart of a music indie artist platform called the “The Playlist Academy” organizes by Jwise. My class was actually the 1st to sell out Big Boi’s studio Stankonia Studios. I will be dropping my 1st ever music visual this June, inspiration coming from Willy Wonka in which I will be playing my own version of Mrs. Wanka.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Losing my mom as a young girl.
Not always being told yes.
Losing my jobs.
Thinking something was my big break and it wasn’t.
Putting and investing my money into people that didn’t want to see me grow as an artist.

Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I put myself in the category of a hip hop/pop artist. My music is feel-good music and anybody can relate to it. It’s for the old generation and the new. My music isn’t talking about selling my body and sex for the most part. I’m encouraging self-love and just being an outgoing individual who loves everyone. I like to think that’s what set me apart from all the other female artist, I’m not putting my body on the front street but more lyrics.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Humbleness, kindness and being myself and not trying to duplicate what’s already out there.
