Today we’d like to introduce you to Dana Peeples.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I became a Real Estate Agent in 2007, where my ultimate goal was to work with first time home buyers and people with credit challenges to help them become homeowners. I currently work as Real Estate Agent with First United Realty helping the First time home buyers purchase their first home. I’ve been an Atlanta Local Real Estate Agent for over 12 years and assist my clients with credit counseling, teaching real estate education classes, budget preparations, and achieving the American Dream of Homeownership. For many of us, buying a home is a dream and one that may not seem easily attainable, but I encourage my clients to know home ownership is possible. I currently provide free home buying seminars once a month to educate my clients on the home buying experience and help them prepare budgets to reach their goals. I also mentor young people between ages of 13-18 years old at my church, Royal Priesthood Ministries, where I help them set up education goals, create savings/checking accounts, teach them how to balance a checkbook, education them on the importance of credit, assist them with filling out college applications, and prepare them for the real world
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing in life comes easy, you can use your failures in life to bring excellence through hard work and dedication. I grew up in a single parent household, where my mom raised four children alone without the help of her ex-husband, I watched my mother work 2 jobs to take care of us and that gave me the strength to know if I wanted something in life, I had to work hard for it! I grew up watching all my friends have two parent households and never having to worry how the mortgage or utilities would get paid in the household. Sometimes my family went without utilities and there were times I would light a candle to do my homework but I knew if I work hard in school I could be whatever I wanted to be in life no matter the struggles. My mother raised three daughters and one son, who had autism, but we never treated our brother any different. I graduated from high school and received the Hope Scholarship to attend Georgia State University. I graduated in 2004 with my Bachelors Degree in Human Resource Management and start working in the insurance field. I knew there was something more I needed to do in my community and in 2007, I became a Real Estate Agent and begin to work with first time home buyers and low-income families to help them achieve the American dream of homeownership.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I’m a Real Estate Agent with First United Realty. I work with First time Home buyers and people with credit challenges to achieve the dream of owning a home. My goal is to make sure every person that I come across has the chance to own a home and to be successful as a homeowner. Many Real Estate Agents get labeled as scammers who only care about a commission, but my goal is to make sure my clients are ready financially and mentally to become homeowners. There have been many times where I’ve advised my clients that they should wait before signing that contract. I want to make sure each client I meet, are well prepared to take on the biggest investment that they will ever make in their lives’. Of course, I’m an Independent Contractor that gets paid off commission, but my focus is to make sure that the client can handle the responsibility that comes with home ownership. What makes me most proud of being a Real Estate Agent with First United Realty, is the fact I can be a leader in my community and help my clients make wise investments. I think what sets me apart from others is the fact I combine my Christian Values with my business knowledge to help others. My belief in God has heavily impacted my life to be a light in my community and to always help others. At First United Realty, our commitment to you is to provide the finest real estate services available. For you as a buyer or seller the people we serve – this means quality representation and proven results. For us, it is the way we do business.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
The most important quality I feel that is important to my success is having integrity. My mother taught me to always be honest with people and to exhibit strong moral principles. I believe you can be successful when you are living a life of integrity and treating others how you would want someone to treat you. We live in a society where moral principles are becoming extinct but I believe true leadership means doing the opposite of what others are doing.
