Meet Daniel John

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel John.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Daniel. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Music has been a part of my life from the moment I was born. With my dad being a reggae artist, I was introduced to a lot of Caribbean and Classical music growing up. Also as a child, I was introduced to many instruments but fell in love with the saxophone. I started off playing for the school band in New York and later on in Georgia after moving down. Over the time I spent in band, I learned how to play around other instruments, as well as understand written notes and recite them for others! However once I got into High School, I let all of that go for Sports. It was not until the summer going into my Sophomore year of college that I picked back up on Music but instead of just playing instruments, I wanted to develop myself as a singer. I have songs out on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, CD-Baby and more.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not the smoothest but that’s okay. From financial burdens to unexpected situations, I knew that it wasn’t going to be easy. I have a long way to go and I know it still won’t be easy. That’s what makes it worth it in the end though. I believe that you are always going to have problems but it is what you do after those problems arise that makes all the difference. You should never give up.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I make Caribbean and R&B/Soul Music. Being a Singer, Songwriter, and Recording Artist, I create music that can appeal to people of all ages! I express myself and my emotions through my songs and strive to help others who struggle in that to express their emotions to whoever they need to; whether that’s a close friend, significant other, etc…

What were you like growing up?
Growing up as a kid, my parents used to tell me that I didn’t talk much and I was obedient. I was very observant and still am to this day. I was always interested in drawing and making little storybooks. These things molded my sense of creativity because I think of the songs that I write are like stories. I am also a lover of sports, I play basketball, football, track & field, and wrestled. I love living an active lifestyle because it keeps my mind at ease.
