Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Minchew.
Daniel, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Simply I love stories. Ever since I can remember I aimed to be in the film business. When I was seven I started acting. When I was seventeen, I realized I wanted to tell the stories by writing and producing. By the time I graduated college, I realized I wanted to have my own business in this industry. This is the industry I dreamt of being in and I was lucky enough to be living in Atlanta at the perfect time. I opened Studio Space Atlanta in 2008 and in 2013 myself with partners Glenn Murer and Mark Henderson opened Atlanta Filmworks Studio.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s never a smooth road, but the rocks in the road make you a better businessman/woman. I learned be confident and comfortable in my failures. I learn the best through my failures and these failures make me a better business man. Not everyone wants you to succeed and you have to deal with those people in a professional way.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Studio Space Atlanta & Atlanta Filmworks Studio – what should we know?
Studio Space Atlanta is an 8000-sq. ft. soundproofed film/TV production studio. Atlanta Filmworks is a 57,000-sq. ft. film/TV production studio. We rent studio space to the Atlanta film industry. We have had some pretty amazing productions both at Atlanta Filmworks Studio & Studio Space Atlanta. At Atlanta Filmworks, we have had the pleasure of hosting the critically acclaimed AMC show “Halt and Catch Fire”. Halt and Catch Fire has been with us since season 1 and they are filming their 4th and final season with us now. We have been really fortunate having the wonderful crew from Stalwart films producing the show. I really just can’t say enough about them. Studio Space Atlanta is a different animal all together. Studio Space hosts shoots for companies like Zaxby’s, Mercedes-Benz, Home Depot, Intel as well as many others. We are also the Studio many channels use for their interview space such as Brovo’s “Real Housewives”, VH1’s “Love and Hip Hop” and countless others. It is certainly no secret that Studio Space Atlanta has hosted many of the major music videos Atlanta’s rich music scene produces from artists like Janelle Monae, Usher, Migos, Ludacris, Gucci Mane and many many others. It is really amazing to see what our clients bring to us.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
That’s an easy one. I am lucky enough to have those parents that would always tell me I can do anything. My Father (who passed a year ago) never failed to patiently give me wisdom and support. My Mother is always there to listen to ideas of mine and give great feedback and encouragement. I am VERY lucky to have my biggest influences also be my parents.
