Meet Daniel Montoute, Andrea Joseph and Megan Jeffers of Ampersand Guild in Macon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Montoute, Andrea Joseph and Megan Jeffers.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In March 2017, I acquired Ampersand Guild from friends, the previous owners, who could not handle the demand of the business and the direction their personal life was taking them. After recruiting a team, Andrea Joseph- handling social and communications and Megan Jeffers – handling business and finances, we have worked to keep the Ampersand Guild running for the sake of the members and community members. We have sacrificed our time, lives, personal goals and at times, sanity to keep the life of Ampersand Guild up and running. We strongly believe in the original mission, to help support and grow the local artist community it’s what keeps us going even despite the rough roads that we come across.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been many obstacles along the way. After having our doors closed in August 2017, we’ve had struggles finding a new building, securing funding for operation expenses, pressure from other businesses hoping that we fail, removing disruptive partners to now getting to a place where we feel proud and relieved to have a place to call our own and able to open the doors with our mission still intact.
