Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Holmes.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My story is a bit unique. While most people go after their dream career, my dream career found me! As a student at West Chester University, in 2006, like most students, I was *stuck* trying to figure out what career would be the perfect fit for me. All I knew was that I didn’t want to be a teacher (both my mother and grandmother were educators). As much as I tried to avoid it, I somehow ended up in professional roles (camp counselor, tutor, unpaid research paper editor for all of my friends, etc.) that pulled me in the direction of becoming a teacher. Unfortunately, I made the decision a bit too late and had to attend graduate school to receive my teaching certification. Over the summer of 2008, while finishing up my grad classes, I worked in HR screening resumes for a legal consulting company. My experience as a Reading and Writing teacher, combined with my knowledge of HR and Resume Writing standards came in hand when I made the decision to open my company: Career Services by Elle, LLC.
I have been a Reading and Writing teacher for 10 years, and the owner of Career Services by Elle, LLC for four years. I’m extremely fortunate to work as both a teacher and a resume writer. Everything has come full circle because at one point I had no idea of what I wanted to do! I was completely lost and struggled to find out what career would be the best fit for me. Now today, I am able to work in not only one, but two roles that allow me to help others find and follow their dreams. My heart is full of joy being able to help children follow their dreams AND help adults land the job of their dreams!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been a smooth road for me, but I always believe that a smooth road never makes a perfect driver. One struggle that I encountered was attempting to navigate the entrepreneurial world without a guide. I had to learn a lot about the business, marketing, and relationship management end of owning a company on my own. Through researching and building connections with other Resume Writers, I was able to learn a lot!
Another struggle that I have dealt with is the difficulty of juggling it all. As a wife, mother of two sons, and a full-time teacher, I found it very difficult in the beginning to balance it all. At one point, I considered leaving my full-time teaching job to become a resume writer full time. But I absolutely love teaching, so I had to learn how to properly manage my time for both roles.

The documents and services that my company provides include Resumes, Cover Letters, LinkedIn Profiles, Career Biographies, and CV documents. As a Certified Professional Resume Writer, I have written hundreds of thousands of career documents for professionals (entry-level to executive) in all industries and backgrounds.
I am most proud of my ability to truly help my clients. Many of my clients come to me frustrated with their inability to see success in their career search. Others come to me after being laid off, relocating, or returning to work following years of unemployment.

One of the things that set me apart from others is my level of passion and dedication. My passion has had me up until 3:00 AM in the morning finishing resumes for many nights. I even took a client discovery phone call using a Wi-Fi connection on my wedding anniversary vacation in Cancun, Mexico!
Recently, I hosted a workshop for a professional organization and look forward to presenting information that will help professionals in all industries and all levels.
What was you like growing up?
While growing up, I was a quiet kid. I always enjoyed reading and writing. Actually, one way that I was always able to express myself was through writing. I used to enjoy writing short stories and poetry.
