Meet Danielle Patterson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Patterson.

Hi Danielle, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
After trying college a few times and working a few jobs I never really enjoyed, I wanted a change. I’ve always been intrigued with the beauty industry and anything involving cooking and baking, but I wasn’t aware of how either would play a big role in my life. I did know that I thoroughly enjoyed makeup, but I felt I needed to know more. I enrolled in beauty school in 2014 to become an esthetician, but with a core focus on makeup. I graduated in 2016 and immediately started my journey as a freelance makeup artist. In 2017 I took a small leap with my food by providing small plates and personal orders to coworkers, friends, and family. I still had too much fear and doubt in myself to go full time, so I was still working regular 9-5 jobs. I took some time to regroup and refocus. Then in 2020 I quit my job and became a full-time entrepreneur, and then once again the beginning of 2021. Now I’m living my dream as my own boss and I do quite well for myself. Currently, I offer an array of services as a traveling chef and makeup artist, and I’m so blessed to be booked and busy. I’ve been published multiple times, have clientele in 12 different states, and have provided services for over 1,000 customers. My future looks mighty bright, and I can’t wait to see what’s next.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not by far, especially since I do about 90% of everything on my own. Starting anything from ground up, especially a business has been one of the most challenging things I’ve ever done but by far the most rewarding. I’ve faced a few struggles along the way like slow days or weeks, finances, business expenses, juggling two businesses, and my personal life. However, the biggest struggle has been getting out of my own way, and truly believing in myself, and accepting my purpose.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I enhance beauty, make visions come to life, create unforgettable experiences and provide customer satisfaction. In the makeup world, I specialize in natural, soft, and full glam looks for any occasion. In the culinary world, I specialize in traditional American, Southern, and Cajun/Creole-inspired cuisine and comfort sweets. I’m most known for my presentation, Shrimp & Grits, Seafood Egg Rolls, cupcakes, and Brunch events. I would say the thing that makes me most proud is just being able to see daily how far I’ve come. I would definitely say my drive, hustle, ambition, customer service skills, and my personality sets me apart from others. I’m so genuine and down to earth with my clientele, and I know they appreciate that from me.

As far as what I’m currently focusing on, I have quite a few surprises for my clientele including new services that will be available starting in 2022, and more convenience.

How do you think about happiness?
Honestly, it’s simple! Being able to wake up every day, and choose to use the gifts and talents I was blessed with makes me happy. I remember there were days where I prayed for an overflow, and the moments I get to experience now. Not too many people have the opportunity, faith, financial means, and support to make their dreams their reality. I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to walk in my purpose but also make it my livelihood.
