Meet Danielle Rose

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Rose.

Hi Danielle, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
In some ways, I feel there was no one moment when I began art. Rather, from the moment I was given a crayon, I became Art’s subject. I aspire to learn all forms of art media, but I focus mostly in the three dimensional disciplines. My favorites techniques have been welding, various casting methods, and ceramic arts.

I’ve had the fortune to work under an inspiring and prolific local artist, Ayokunle Odeleye. Yet, as a homeschooling mother of two, I am still discovering my creative path.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s difficult to fathom any artist having a smooth road. I struggle daily with responsibilities, myself, my art materials… I have to fight for time and energy, but there’s no giving up. I’m always striving to find my creative direction because if I don’t how do I raise my kids to believe they can do whatever they set their energies to?

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Specialization is a tough concept for me. I’ve taken art commissions within a broad range of mediums, from gates to murals, to cloth masks to stain glass projects.

When we were forced to read The Great Gatsby in GA public school, a particular quote has stuck with me.

‘Now I was going to bring back all such things into my life and become again that most limited of all specialists, the ‘well-rounded man.’

That’s me. Maybe it’s having grown up in such a stimulating time in history, or maybe it’s curiosity, but I am no specialist.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Photographing and cataloging creative inventory is my biggest struggle right now. If I could advice new creative entrepreneurs in anyway, I’d suggest they discipline themselves for the “boring” aspects of the job. The creation of art is extremely immersive, but it doesn’t sell itself.
