Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Stringer.
Danielle, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In 2009, I experienced a horrific car accident that left me with left-side paralysis and a brain injury, along with several other minor injuries. At 21, I taught myself to walk again, returned to college, ran a marathon, and competed in a bodybuilding contest by 23. I proudly graduated with a business degree from the University of West Georgia in 2016 at 26.
After a brief stint in the corporate world, I realized it wasn’t my true calling. I took an exciting leap and became a nanny to my now godchildren. This choice led me to embark on my own entrepreneurial journey! In 2022, I founded Dandi Cleaning & Organizing to honor my grandfather and to pursue happiness and passion in my career.
I have always had a special connection to Dandi Cleaning & Organizing, which has been a cherished side hustle since my childhood. The name “Dandi” comes from my incredible grandfather, who gave me that nickname and was my first client back in middle school. I continued to nurture my business throughout college, and after graduation, it blossomed into something wonderful.
Transforming my passion for creating organized and efficient spaces into a thriving career has been truly life-changing! I’m excited to help others find joy and simplicity in their surroundings. It’s the best decision I’ve ever made, and I’m grateful for this journey every day.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Smooth? Absolutely not. Business ownership is not for the faint of heart.
In addition to the usual challenges—such as fluctuating business conditions and rising product costs—finding a balance between work and life has been my biggest struggle. At what point do you clock out? It’s crucial to take breaks to prevent burnout; it’s essential.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I started this business because I love helping people simplify their lives by decluttering and creating sustainable organizational systems that maintain order.
Life can be hectic, and keeping up with housework isn’t always easy. My mission is to brighten the day—and space—of every client!
My passion for this work began as a teenager when I regularly cleaned for my grandparents. Each time I entered their house, mop and bucket in hand, my grandfather would call out, “Dandi is here!”
Today, with over two decades of professional experience, I embrace my grandfather’s catchphrase as my motto: “Dandi is here” and ready to help you clean and organize your home, office, time, and life.
DCO has expanded its services to include move management, offering seamless moving, packing, and unpacking in your space.
I take great pride in the growth of the business through word of mouth and knowing that every day I go to work, I am making my grandfather proud and leading with kindness.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I worked in the field with another professional organizer for about a year before I branched out on my own. We still have a working relationship, and I regularly reach out to her for advice. It’s important to get involved in your field whenever you can, whether through business groups, social media pages, or other networking opportunities. There is always more to learn about your field and business ownership in general.
