Meet Dantavius Washington

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dantavius Washington.

Dantavius Washington

Hi Dantavius, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my success in a small town called Chelsea, AL. While in high school, I was a very successful student-athlete. I used the success in high school as a ladder to further my studies and athletic career at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL. To my knowledge, I am the first basketball player at Chelsea High School to go play on the collegiate level. While at Huntingdon College, I was the captain of the men’s basketball team, President of SAAC, Director of the Gospel choir, member of the BSU, and member of the Business Leadership Initiative as well as an assortment of over things. I obtained my BA in Communication Studies as well as a minor in English. I have always known that I wanted to break into Entrepreneurship. As soon as I graduated college, I began working as a leasing professional, as well as obtaining my real estate license. As I grew in the property management field from a leasing professional to Assistant Property Manager to a Leasing Manager to a Portfolio Manager I used the monetary resources to create my own clothing line, “YourMajesty” as well as my children’s book “What Should I Be When I Grow Up”. I am currently a Portfolio Manager for Resihome in Buckhead, Atlanta, GA as well as Basketball Coach at Calera High School, while also being an Entrepreneur.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Life hasn’t always been easy. I was bullied a lot when I was younger because I didn’t always fit into the status quo. Although, my family and God gave me the strength to persevere through all of life’s tough moments. Being able to escape into a book or two also helped.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am currently a Portfolio Manager for Resihome in Buckhead, Atlanta, GA as well as a Basketball Coach at Calera High School while also being an Entrepreneur. While I love my job as a portfolio manager, my vocation is helping children. I usually do this by sharing my love of the game of basketball and helping them develop their skills while doing it. Although, while basketball is my method, I also try to teach them about some important lessons in life. I used the monetary resources from my day job to create my own clothing line, “YourMajesty” as well as my children’s book, “What Should I Be When I Grow Up”. Surprisingly, my children’s book also focuses on teaching children life lessons. In my book, you will meet Legacy. 𝘑𝘰𝘪𝘯 𝘓𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘤𝘺 𝘢𝘴 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘧𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘺 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱𝘴 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘥𝘦 “𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘚𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘚𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘦 𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘚𝘩𝘦 𝘎𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘴 𝘜𝘱”. 𝘈𝘭𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘮𝘢𝘺 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘴𝘦. The school year has started back up, and my goal is to get my children’s books into every elementary school’s library in the Atlanta, Shelby County, and Birmingham city school area.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Never stop chasing your dreams because one day they could be your reality.
