Darnell, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
YCTN stands for “You Copped That New”. YCTN was created to give African American apparel designers a platform to showcase and sell their merchandise. the company was founded by William Hill & Darnell Samples in 2017. YCTN has several Apparel Brand lines that were created in-house such as Black Women Are Dope, JUST BLACK, Black Superhero, God Made, and Rep Your City. Our most successful Brand to date is “Black Women Are Dope, it’s a powerful statement that any gender or nationality can get behind and celebrate the greatness of Black Women. YCTN is becoming a household name in Atlanta, GA and we have expanded into doing custom bulk orders no matter the size for any event, occassion, or idea. We have partnered with Atlanta based companies such as Atlanta Ink, HugLife Cares, SMART Foundation, and NBCUniversal(New York). We are excited about future collaborations and many more opportunities.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I would definitely say the road has had many speed bumps along the way. A few speed bumps have been trying to navigate the industry, the demand, the supply, and not wanting to be like any other Apparel company. Learning which wholesaler and distributors to do business with was a huge hurdle because all business isn’t good business.

We specialize in providing a platform for African American Apparel Brand Designers/Businesses to showcase and sell their merchandise. We are known for fast, efficient, and friendly service. YCTN is most proud of the growth and expansion of the company. Having everything in-house and not having to outsource any project is what sets us apart from the rest.
