Meet Darrell Hester

Today we’d like to introduce you to Darrell Hester.

Hi Darrell, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My online content creation journey began 10 years ago with my first YouTube video being a poetry reading. I had fun doing it but began to do covers of some of my favorite songs instead. Eventually, I became interested in conspiracy theories regarding music, songs and music videos, which then began my video series, Song Theory!

After years on YouTube and only moderate success on the platform, I began posting videos of my content on a new and exciting app called TikTok in August of 2020. Like many, I began to find success on the app and eventually hit my first 1 million views in January of 2021. Since then, I have been approached by brands, celebrities, other creators and fans encouraging me to keep creating my special and unique brand of content.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being an online content creator has always been a tough road. Although I have been offered incredible opportunities over time, it took years for me to see any type of success from my work. The honest realities are that in the beginning, there will be days where I could record and edit a video that took 4-5 hours to complete and only get 5 views. Or days when I felt so overwhelmed by life that I couldn’t bring myself to create. What keeps me going is knowing that almost 1 million people have decided to follow me and support me. Millions of people see my videos per month and really connect with my content, and that allows me to stay on track!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have always specialized in marketing and sales. I am aware of what it takes to get people interested in a product. From door-to-door sales of vacuums to selling concert tickets or power tools, I have always been aware of how to get and hold people’s attention. What makes my content unique is the way I can pull anyone into my world and captivate them to want to know more, even if they didn’t have an interest in my type of content previously. Companies have employed me to grow their social media presence and use my unique marketing techniques to get their audience interested in what they are attempting to sell. My content is original (which is very hard to do and even harder to find on the internet these days.) I pride myself in being THE premiere music conspiracy theory content creator on the internet. Making a place for yourself in the internet landscape is the first step towards a successful content creation career.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
The biggest risk I ever took was pressing “publish”. You never know who is going to resonate with you or your content if you never press “publish”.
