Today we’d like to introduce you to Darryl Walters.
Darryl, before we jump into specific questions about your music, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Recording Artist Kung Fu Woo is gearing up to be the next big name out of Atlanta, Georgia, where names like Gucci Mane, T.I. and Young Jeezy has all called home at some point in their lives. Having actively pursuing music for quite some time before taking a brief hiatus, Kung Fu Woo is now back on the scene to give listeners Valentine’s Day treat in the form of his new single, “Empathize.”
On the track, Kung Fu Woo is found pondering on his life’s purpose, sharing some of his life experiences, battling demons, reflecting on simpler times, and looks to go on a pursuit of finding himself. Backed by a guitar and some Trap production, Kung Fu Woo promises that the track will be one many can relate to, and sees it doing well on streaming platforms.
Born Darryl Walters and raised in a musical family, Kung Fu Woo’s musical experience spans close to 20 years. With influences like Drake, Andre 3000, Kilo Ali, Three 6 Mafia, his Mom who was a trained Vocalist, and Dad who was a drum major in college. Woo is currently being managed by a friend of 9 years, Jay Carter of JunkieHead Entertainment (J.H.E.).
“Empathize” is set to be released on February 14 aka Valentine’s Day on all digital streaming platforms. Kung Fu Woo is also putting the finishing touches on a brand new album titled, ‘The Art Of Kung Fu Woo, ’ which is set to be released later this year. He can be reached on Instagram at @Kung_Fu_Woo for updates on his music and more.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has not been smooth a road always. It is still overcoming obstacles as an indie artist. But I still remain optimistic knowing that consistency is key.
We’d love to hear more about your music.
I am a professional musician. I do songwriting. I specialize in hooks of a song as well as lyrics. I’m a really good lyricist. I dress to impress some will call it a sophisticated look. I feel my image and my name and my music alone set me apart from others.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I would say signing to JunkieHead Entertainment for giving me an opportunity to showcase my talents. Next would be working alongside Grammy award winning producer “Stevie J” on two singles “Have Fun” and “High Note” from My “debut album “dropping Jewels 2.”
