Meet Dashea Mobley of Mirror Image Extensions Bar & Boutique in Savannah

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dashea Mobley.

Dashea, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve been an entrepreneur before I even realized that’s what I was doing. From starting my salon business way back in the day when I was a house beautician, humble beginnings. Six years ago I knew I would be a salon owner I just didn’t know when. I started out as a braider and advanced to other things that I knew my clients actually wanted.

Then I became the jack of all trades, getting my hands in it all. I actually didn’t think of a cosmetologist/hairstylist as a career. So I thought to become something that I felt had longevity, like a dentist. Nothing went right for me when I was trying to get in that program at my local college here in Savannah, GA. I then realized that I needed to follow my heart & go after my passion. Once I signed up for the cosmetology program, everything fell into place. Once getting in that program, I grew the upmost respect for all the veteran stylist that’s before me. The program offers so much more then I expected. I learned so much as far as the bones in the body, like I was going to school to become a doctor.

My love for my profession grew. I became a business owner with a few loved ones that were short-lived. I knew I had a vision but that vision never included others. Once I dissolved that partnership, I changed the name to which is now my existing business and added my sister in to bring that fire with her boutique. Her boutique offers bandage pieces, things that other boutiques herein Savannah wasn’t quite offering. Nothing basic but exclusive pieces that a million others wouldn’t also have. I have a salon setting that holds about six employees. We are a family at Mirror Image Extensions Bar & Boutique and I wouldn’t trade my career for nothing in the world. It’s a joy to love what you do.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing about being a self-employed business owner is easy. It’s a must to have a passion for what you’re doing because you can easily lose sight. I’ll tell anyone being a business owner is not for the weak. You’re going to have down days where you make lots of money and days where you will lose money. The objective is not to focus on the money-making but focus on your craft and your customer service skills and the money will come.

It’s not all about the money to me, don’t get me wrong I make a great living but the enjoyment of doing something I love is far more rewarding. It’s a million people stuck at jobs they hate to go to on a daily just to provide for their family and because they make great money. I can truly say I’m blessed. Also being that I’m a wife and have two beautiful girls, it’s a struggle to be away from my family trying to build my brand to where I want it to be and take care of my clients. At times I have to separate that life from my family time and just enjoy them.
