Today we’d like to introduce you to Daud Wood.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started this business after having a custom Tshirt store that was in the same building as a custom gold grill shop (Atlanta Custom Golds) in Little Five Points. I saw the money they were making and the fancy cars they were driving. I was very interested in the lifestyle. The rent were I was leasing my space was raised so I moved out. There was a guy (Joe Motion) from my hometown Detroit who had a Tattoo shop directly across the street (Gallery Tattoo). I moved my T-Shirt store to his shop. He talked about the idea of doing a gold grill shop there, I was all in. We hired a guy who knew the industry. I also had a few people who were willing to help once they saw I was in the industry. Business was booming. I made more money than I ever had in my life. But my success was short lived.
I had issues with the other Gold Grill shop across the street. They were not to happy with the competition. One thing led to another, and I had to defend myself. I ended up in jail for two weeks. I spent all my life savings on bonding out of jail and hiring an attorney. My name was eventually cleared due to the Atlanta Police Department video cameras. The judge ruled it self defense. I felt highly blessed. But everyone turned there back on me in the business community. My business partners also kept all the money we made and shut me out the business. On top of that my business partners went into business with the Grill shop across street.
After all this, I was going through so much stress not knowing what to do next. I left the country for three months to get my mental right. I was blessed by a friend (Muhammad Guis) who owned Peaceful Clouds Smoke shop in East Atlanta Village to sublease a small space inside his store to do My Gold Grill business. I really thought about this because I was going to leave America. After meditating on it, I was ready to open another business in Atlanta. He gave me a three months lease. A week before my three months lease ended, I had the opportunity to lease a newly vacant building across the street from Peaceful clouds.
That is where we are now. Gangsta Grillz ATL has been open now for three months. The company is growing daily. We are adding new services in the near future (Teeth Whitening, Tooth Gems & also an Oxygen Bar).
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. But I will make it happen regardless of the obstacles.

We specialize in Custom Gold Grillz or better known as Mouth Jewelry.
We are soon to provide the following services here at Gangsta Grillz:

2)Tooth Gems
3)Oxygen Bar.
What sets us apart from others is our energy here. It seems everyone that comes to are store says are energy is so much better than any other Grill Shop that they have been in. We are also opened later than any Grill shop in ATL. On the weekends we are opened until 2am. It’s definitely a fun, positive energy at Gangsta Grillz. And not to mention we are located in one of the most famous neighborhoods in Atlanta. East Atlanta Village alone sets us apart from others.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Opening a brick and mortar in East Atlanta Village.
