Meet David Jean-Louis of Very Noicee LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Jean-Louis

Hi David , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started creating content during the pandemic when everyone was stuck at home. After being laid off from my job, I began selling plates. Around that time, TikTok was booming, and I saw people cooking online. I thought, “If they can do it, so can I,” so I gave it a shot. Initially, I had no plan and didn’t know where it could lead, but I soon realized content creation was a great way to promote my plate sales. As things progressed, I made it more professional and eventually became a personal chef.

Fast forward a couple of years, and I started noticing other creators going full-time with their content. I was determined to figure out how I could do the same. So, I began taking my content more seriously, and midway through 2022, I got my big break, allowing me to pursue content creation full-time.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, but I never expected it to be. My whole life has been about overcoming obstacles, so when challenges come up, I don’t dwell on them—I just see it as part of the journey. When I first started doing content, I had the time to be consistent since I didn’t have a job, but eventually, I ran out of savings. Selling plates was nice, but it wasn’t enough to cover many bills.

Once things started getting back to normal, the restaurant took me back, and a few months later, I was promoted to chef de cuisine. Although I was earning more, it became harder to stay consistent with my content. On top of that, I was still offering personal chef services. There were times when I would work a double shift at the restaurant, then drive an hour to Orlando for a dinner gig, drive back home, film content, and then go back to work the next day. I even edited content during the slow periods at work.

So no, it wasn’t easy at all to get here, but I’m glad I stuck with it because there were plenty of factors that could’ve made me stop.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was into many things like music, sports, and of course, cooking. I’m Haitian and spent the first 10 years of my life in Haiti. After the 2010 earthquake, my parents made the difficult decision to have my siblings and me move to the US without them, as they were better able to support us financially from Haiti. My sister became my legal guardian and raised me here.

Adjusting to a new culture and learning a new language was tough—it felt like my life had to start over. That experience of adapting to so much change shaped me into who I am today, instilling values of gratitude, kindness, perseverance, and ambition.

Personality-wise, I’ve always been a goofy person. I loved making people laugh, even if it meant being the butt of the joke, because seeing others happy made it worth it. At the same time, I was also confident, ambitious, and competitive, which I think comes from being the youngest of eight kids. I always felt the need to prove myself and show that I belonged.
