Meet David Mason of FreeDom Management Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Mason.

David, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I began working in the entertainment/production management field when I moved to Atlanta from Florida in 2015. I’ve always had a passion for the arts since being a trained dancer back home in Florida. Once settled here in Atlanta, I was immediately drawn to the gospel industry here and felt that there was a need for new and fresh faces in the entertainment/production field. I established my company in late 2015 as LC Management. In 2016, I went under the leadership of Marques Collins of MC Management (now The Marques Collins Collective) based out of Chicago as a mentee with his company. While under his leadership, I was given the position as A&R Director of MC Management. While networking as an A&R Director, a few artists begun searching for me to work with them. I really didn’t have my brand finished at the time, so I had to work hard to finish branding my company. In May 2018, LC Management was re-branded to FreeDom Management Group.

Since May 2018, FreeDom Management Group have been working nonstop in the gospel and secular industry. I had the honor and privilege to work with Kevin Lemons & Higher Calling, Antwoin Holman & Trans4mation, Ricky Dillard, James Hall, Le’Andria Johnson, KeKe Wyatt, San Franklin, B Chase Williams just to name a few. I’m currently managing a future major gospel artist, Jessica Dinae & TeamDinae.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I wouldn’t say struggles because to me, struggles mean long term. I have had challenges which means to me short term, but I have overcome my challenges.

FreeDom Management Group – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My company, FreeDom Management Group, specializes in artist consultations/booking, artist development, artist management, road management, concert production, event planning/coordination, conference planning/coordination, production management and production coordination.

The one thing that I’m most proud of is that I achieved what I’ve dreamed about for so long and that was to start my own company and what sets me apart from others is that my passion and humbleness.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me is accomplishing something that you never thought you were able to do. Having drive, ambition and humbleness is the key to success. My mother would always tell me…” there will be a lot of NO’s in life but those NO’s will lead to a beautiful YES”. Everything will happen in God’s timing.
