Today we’d like to introduce you to DeAngelo Bailey.
DeAngelo, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My story is mixed with achievements and failures, but they lead me to knowing my purpose. My purpose is to help improve the youth mental skill. Basketball helps me support the idea of developing mental skills and personal goals.
Through my experience in playing, coaching, and training, I see a lot of young people miss out on the mental part on basketball and life. Putting mental skill and basketball skills together made me want to mentor our youth. Giving back by teaching mental skill and basketball skill will is the purpose God set out for me to do. Hard work, dedication, and consistency got me to where I’m at now
Has it been a smooth road?
This journey has not been smooth. One of the struggles I face now are finances for getting my own building. Second struggle is building a clientele for basketball training and mentor class.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Mental Minded Academy story. Tell us more about the business.
Mental Minded Academy is a program where we help develop our youth personal growth and their mental skill through basketball. Basketball is similar to our daily life when it comes to dealing with success and failure, working together, overcoming obstacles, etc. I specialize in training and coaching young players with their basketball skills. I also mentor our young champions with their personal goals. I’m different when it comes to helping someone out. I don’t just focus on one aspect of their life. I want the youth to gain every bit of knowledge they can from Mental Minded Academy!! What a lot of people lack that I found a strength of mine is being patient.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
After short doings of nonprofit, I believe Mental Minded Academy will have it’s own business worldwide.
