Today we’d like to introduce you to De’Angelo Marquis.
De’Angelo, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
One of my best friends encouraged me to buy a camera and it becomes the launching pad of my journey. I have only been doing photography for a little over two years. I started off by shooting close friends and family; then people actually started paying me to shoot them. From there I started taking a few photography classes and a lot of trial and error.
Year one of shooting, I was given the opportunity to shoot a great friend. She came to the set with a makeup artist and her fashion designer. I was totally afraid because I didn’t feel advanced enough in the craft to produce the type of shoot she was looking for. She noticed my fear and stopped to encouraged me to be myself and use my eye. Her shoot literally changed my life! After editing her pictures, I found a new level of confidence and a drive to go harder.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been a smooth ride. Buying camera equipment can be expensive so I took my time and purchased what I could at the time. Now, the road is smooth and I have hit many of my goals.
