Meet Deanna Dodson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deanna Dodson.

Hi Deanna, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I decided to start a business three years ago called Savage Amor. At first, I was just selling lipgloss and lashes. As time went on, I developed a passion for doing hair and nails. The biggest issue became how to balance it all! Throughout the years, I have learned a lot, failed, and succeeded. To this day, I’m still learning, but my business is growing and evolving more and more every day. The biggest thing for me was to not give up to keep going no matter what anybody said! If you have a dream chase it and don’t let no one stop you 💕

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Personally, it has its ups and its downs. The biggest thing when you are starting business is to learn how to manage and invest! When you start to see a bunch of money come ya way, it can get overwhelming and you might just wanna the ball. As I’ve gotten older and had to start paying bills, I’ve learned you gotta be able stack and save especially for rainy days. Also, clientele when providing a service! It can be challenging to get support, especially in ya home town, but you have realized most ya support is going to come from people you don’t even know! Once I realized that I just posted n posted n posted. let your work speak for itself 🗣💯

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am most known in my city for my business Savage Amor and my service business SlayedbySD, where I do nails and hair from home. I am self-taught in everything I’ve learnt which makes me even more proud! I haven’t been on my lipgloss business recently, because hair and nails have been taking all my time. However, I have really put my all into becoming a great braider and awesome nail tech. I hope to soon relaunch my lipglosses and make them global!

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I have personally been my own mentor. I haven’t got to level yet where I think it’s necessary. I’m still learning as I go but as far as networking. I do believe that you should be posting on social every day! If you don’t post your work nobody gonna know about what you do or your products! If you provide a service link up with other beautiful girls and trade service and do promo together! She could give you nail clients and you might give her hair clients!
