Today we’d like to introduce you to Deanna Wells.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Deanna. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
In January 2016 I worked as a claims adjuster for the second largest insurance company in the nation. At this time I had just had my second child three months prior and balancing work and life as a single mom became a challenge. While fulfilling my duties as an adjuster I heard the Lord say become an insurance agent. 2017 I resigned from my job as a claims adjuster and pursued the journey of entrepreneurship as an insurance agent.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Walking away from my job was the easy part of becoming an insurance agent and being self-employed was not. When I resigned from my position as an adjuster I had no savings, no experience in sales, and bills and babies to take care of. I will admit that I should have planned a better exit instead of just quitting. You have to be licensed to sell insurance in the state of Georgia which requires you to take a 40 hour course and a state exam. I failed the exam three times! At this point, I began to question the words I heard from God but through prayer, I heard again become an Insurance Agent. I took the exam for the 4th time and passed! After passing my exam I got an internship for an insurance company and learned how to sell. The internship paid minimum wage and the pay wasn’t enough to support me and the kids so I was evicted out of my apartment. It was very hard in the beginning, I cried a lot of tears, questioned if I was crazy and prayed as my life depended on it. All I had was my faith to hold on to and I can honestly say God has restored everything I lost and I am now the CEO of my company!
Tell us about your company. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of as a company? What sets you apart from others?
I am the owner and CEO of D. R. Wells Agency. The mission of my company is to help manage my client’s everyday risk and securing their financial future through insurance. From auto insurance to life insurance I provide quality coverage at a competitive rate. Even though we are in the business of insurance, I am most proud of the work we do with single mothers. I understand how hard it is being the only provider for your children so The D. R. Wells Agency has made it a point to bless a single mom in need every quarter from paying a bill to furnishing apartments and also educating them on the importance of life insurance.
What sets my company apart from the others is that I am available to my clients. As we are entering an age of automation, personal interaction still matters. My client’s leave an encounter with me feeling like family. I am the insurance agent that will go through life with you.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
