Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Sure, firstly I’d like to thank you for this opportunity to share my story. It started from seeing my mother singing into a boombox radio at home. This radio played her voice back & I wanted to hear my own. This curiosity led me to recording my first song at a professional recording studio. Hi, my name is Dear Pricey, Artist-Songwriter, CEO of MoneyEntre Records LLC & MoneyEntre Publishing LLC.
Please tell us about your art.
My canvas has many paintings on it, but they’re all painted by the same artist(me). My passion for music led me on an entrepreneur path. I write lyrics, produce, mix & master my own music. When I’m not mixing my own music, I’m in the studio recording & mixing other artist music. I started my record label to release music & a publishing company to own the copyrights masters that’s going to maximize revenue for the company growth & expansion. I want to put entrepreneurship on the radar of artists. Showing artist “hey did you know my song that sold for $0.99 the distributors took 30% & I kept the $0.70 which I don’t have to split with a label or management? & since I’m the label, publisher & songwriter, those royalties come straight to me?” That amount may seem small but if 1000 fans download that song that’s $700. Now imagine 1Million downloads! Not saying label & management are not important. I’m just showing an alternative independent way some artist never knew was possible to them.
Choosing a creative or artistic path comes with many financial challenges. Any advice for those struggling to focus on their artwork due to financial concerns?
Your house, car, & everything you want to build & acquire is in your art. Spend time crafting & fine tuning it. Remember the wood house & chair came from the Tree. Keep your job and work diligently on your dreams part-time until you’re able to work on it full time.
