Meet Debbie Williams of Ask Debbie About Hair in Marietta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Debbie Williams.

Debbie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started as a hairstylist in New York over 25 years ago. It’s strange because doing hair was never my dream job or my passion. I picked up the skill from watching my older sister do hair, and she was amazing at it! Back then, I was determined to be a lawyer, but before I could get serious about the law, I got married, and a few years later, I had my first child.

After having kids, my family and I moved to Georgia, and this is where I opened my first salon. I found myself always worrying about my clients, who had bald spots and scalp issues. Whenever I found an unusual issue with their hair or scalp, I would show them, and request for them to go see their doctor or dermatologist.

In so many instances, they would go to their doctor upon my request. However, they would come back to me and tell me that their doctor said they were fine, and that nothing was wrong. This became very disturbing to me because my heart was telling me that something was wrong and that their doctor is not looking in the right places.

I was also struggling with my eldest sister, who had been diagnosed with lupus, and her doctor was also not giving her any factual answers. My sister’s lupus took out all of her hair and changed the color of her skin.

This leads me on my first journey to find out what was causing hair loss and skin diseases.

I felt that I needed to give my sister and clients some answers that no one else was giving them.

Here is where I discovered the field of trichology, which is the study of hair and scalp disorders. I studied trichology for many years. Although trichology helped me understand scalp disorders and skin problems such as psoriasis, eczema, dandruff, and more, it did not give me the “why.” You see I needed to know “why” someone had psoriasis, or “why” someone had eczema or even lupus. Just telling me that it is genetics or autoimmune-related was not good enough for me. I needed to know what was the root cause of these issues.

That leads me on another journey, and on this journey, I discovered the world of naturopathic and holistic care. This is where I learned about natural health and wellness, nutritional care, and the root causes of chronic illness, including hair loss. It was the best discovery of my life.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s a smooth road now, but my journey was ten years in the making. The struggles were years of getting misinformed answers and getting an education that leads me to a dead end. I also struggled with losing my sister to lupus because I wanted to do more to help her. Her journey with lupus is the reason why I am so passionate about helping people truly understand the causes of their hair loss and scalp problems today.

Please tell us about Ask Debbie About Hair.
The name of my hair restoration clinic is the Changing Faces Hair Clinic, yet most people know me as Ask Debbie About Hair, which is my website and blog that shares natural remedies and healthy tips to help you grow your hair and be healthy. I am a Board-Certified Nutritionist, Hair Loss Specialist, Author, and Cosmetic Chemist.

I specialize in helping people who are suffering from unexplained hair loss and scalp disorders. I am known for helping people grow their hair back using natural remedies and DIYs. I am most known for my viral rice water video from 2017 that is still internationally known today. In that video, I show you how to grow your hair using something as simple as rice and water. My rice water video sparked a worldwide “rice water challenge,” and now there are hundreds of videos and articles about the rice water rinse.

I am most proud of organically building an honest and loyal reputation internationally, and being known for helping people with hair and health issues that affect their mind, spirit, and soul.

I am also very proud of the natural hair products that I have formulated, especially my Caffeine H.R.T. The Caffeine H.R.T. is a formula I created using caffeine, which is known to stimulate hair follicles and block DHT, the hormone that causes hair loss in women and men.
It has helped many clients grow back hair, many who were told they would never grow hair again, and it is continuously changing lives.

What sets me apart from others is that I am not your typical Hair Loss Specialist. I focus on growing your hair back by getting you healthy from the inside out through natural remedies. Most hair loss specialist and dermatologist only treat hair issues topically.

I believe that my purpose in life is to serve others. I’m very passionate about helping and restoring a high quality of life to those who are downhearted because of their hair problems.

What were you like growing up? Personality-wise, interest wise, etc.
Growing up, I was always a helper. I would be the kid who stayed in the house to help my mother.
When I would visit my grandmother for the summer, I would stay inside to help her clean, sew, or help with anything she needed while my sisters would be outside playing and doing kid stuff. I was always the one organizing something or protecting someone or something. I have always been a researcher and loved reading or going to the library to get the facts. I think that is why I initially wanted to be a lawyer. I also have a strong passion for helping the animals, and when I am not helping people, I am rescuing animals. My next goal is to open an animal sanctuary for mistreated and homeless animals.
