Today we’d like to introduce you to Dezirae Lawrence.
Dezirae, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I took a photography class in high school and fell in love with it. I ended up going to SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design) to major in photography and major in business management and entrepreneurship. I now have my own photography business that I’m trying to grow bigger each and every day.
Has it been a smooth road?
There have definitely been some struggles. It gets hard to get fully established and make a decent living, especially living in a city with so many photographers.
What are your plans for the future?
I always look forward to working with new people and exploring new places. For the future, I plan on traveling around the world doing what love.
Let’s dig a little deeper into your story. What was the hardest time you’ve had?
I think the hardest part is trying to differentiate myself from other photographers to help create more clients for myself. It’s hard because now and days there are so many ‘photographers’ that it is easy to get overlooked or loses in the shuffle sometimes.
Do you ever feel like “Wow, I’ve arrived” or “I’ve made it” or do you feel like the bulk of the story is still unwritten?
I think the moments when I randomly get contacted by people who have found me on their own or I was recommended to them from someone are always things that make me realize that I may really be on the right track, and I am doing something right.
