Has it been a smooth road?
I tell everyone that I speak to about my career path that the key to my success has been maintaining a reputation for doing good business, being a person of my word and getting things done. My reputation has opened many doors for me when I started in 1985 and continues to do so today.
Each viable career opportunity was presented to me via a phone call from someone who has sought me out specifically to complete a project or to offer me a job. No opportunity that I sought out for myself has been successful. It was the opportunities that found me, that turned into long-term career choices – every single one.
Struggles came with life and industry changes. Loss of loved ones, health issues and a drastic change in the way we did business and made money in the music industry.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Murray Media Production Partners is a creative consulting agency that focuses on business support for the public and private sector.
I cater my services around the creative needs of my clients, one of which is the DeKalb County Government in the areas of film, music, television, and gaming. I am most proud of the way that I have been able to re-invent myself to meet the business needs of my clients in the ever-evolving entertainment industry.
What sets me apart from others is my unique skill set, astute business acumen and positive approach to all things. I am an attentive listener and a genuine, humble servant.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I agree that Atlanta is a great city to launch an entertainment career. For those starting out, you need to work hard until you find your niche and smash that shit.
There are a tremendous amount of resources, networks, and mentors who are willing to support your creative efforts. You, in turn, must prove your worthiness, be a constant learner and work hard to meet the constant demands and changes in this industry. Nobody wants to pour into someone that is not willing to work as hard as someone like me has to achieve success. We (my peers) are all constantly working to improve ourselves by reading trade publications and books, attending professional development events and expanding our networks to elevate our NET WORTH.
