Meet DeShay Robinson

Today we’d like to introduce you to DeShay Robinson.

DeShay, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I been loving music since I was a small child, so making music when I got older was definitely a dream. I was in the marching band at Newton High, then got a full scholarship to Alabama A&M to continue my education and graduated in 2016 with a bachelor’s in Exercise Science. I was in a rap group called “2Dee3” that started in 2011 and we stopped making music the next year. I just got back into it with I linked up with producer Mulsanne, now it’s only up from here.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I struggled a lot after 2Dee3 because I wanted to make music so bad, but couldn’t get back in it. Friends were definitely trying to encourage me to follow my dream so in January of this year, I stepped back in the studio.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I’m an R&B artist, but I also rap from time to time. I’m proud of my music because you can relate to every song. I make my music for women because that’s who buys it and show the most love. I’m different from any other Atlanta artist because my voice is distinct and I don’t like sound like anybody. Smooth harmonies and different cadences set me apart from my competition.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I don’t have any big plans, honestly, other than the usual things. I wanna make a hit record and possibly collab with my favorite artists like Young Thug, Nav, Z-Ro, and K-Camp. I just want my music distributed to the world so everyone can hear DeShay and get to know me from a music standpoint.
