Today we’d like to introduce you to Desiree “Dez” Woodson.
Desiree, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always had a passion for the arts and forms of expression. I had a love for art early on in my childhood but I wasn’t necessarily the best artist in terms of drawing. For me it wasn’t until middle school when I started to fall in love with photography and wanted a camera the capture my prospective of the world. The idea and dream of being a photographer remained a dream for years until I was 20. I wanted to do something I had a passion for so soon after I bought my camera. Shortly after getting my camera I started doing free photoshoots for friends and family. I got where I am today because of my determination to showcase the world through my eyes. I am also where I am today because of the individuals who believed in me enough to give me a chance when no one else would.
Has it been a smooth road?
Getting to this point hasn’t been a smooth road. I’d say that the biggest challenges along the way have included a period of self-doubt, and teaching myself the art of photography.

I officially formed Dez Woodson Photography in June 2019. I specialize in Portrait/Lifestyle Photography, and offer Event Photography. I’m most proud of the ability the leave a smile on every client’s face and present them with a memory frozen in time forever. What sets me apart from others is my desire to bring a client’s vision to reality, giving them power to exercise creative ideas at any time, including them in every step of the process and my determination to deliver a final product that is near perfection.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes and think Atlanta is a good city for upcoming photographers. For someone just starting out I would recommend finding a mentor if possible, taking your camera every you go, and taking pictures of any and everything whenever you possibly can.
