Today we’d like to introduce you to Desmond & Krista Reeves. They and their team shared their story with us below:
In late 2020, Krista wanted to add wainscoting & chair rail to her office; however, the 1st quote was astronomical. Unfortunately, the next two quotes were even higher. She proceeded to ask Desmond if he could attempt it, we both thought that moment was hilarious at the time because Desmond didn’t have a hammer. However, over the next week or so, Desmond utilized YouTube and consulted with a family friend who was a carpenter and then proceeded to buy the necessary tools.
The first attempt at making one of the “boxes”, took over 2 hours, but Desmond eventually got that same task down to under 1 minute. The office was completed that same week; we shared pictures on social media along with other accent wall projects around our home. We received several requests from friends and family and completed more than six paid projects over the next four weeks.
Since then, w have serviced well over 200 clients.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It most definitely has not been a smooth road. Initially, there was a lot of trial and error with creating & executing some designs as we are self-taught. Most significantly though, very early into really building the business, Krista became seriously ill and was unable to assist with multiple areas of the business.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We specialize in designing & installing accent walls, custom molding, chair rails and wainscoting. We are known for our customer experience and the quality, competitive pricing and affordability of our work. We pride ourselves on our ability to complete most projects same day. We are also super proud of the number of repeat customers & the abundance of referrals we regularly receive from them.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
As a business/team, we learned to expect the unexpected. There were a lot of delays & rescheduling and price increases on materials. This truly impacted how we approached maintaining and growing our business; especially relating to scheduling and keeping our prices affordable and maintaining high-level customer service.
