Devyne, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Originally from the Washington, DC area, I am a multi-faceted woman. A modern day chameleon that wears many hats. I currently work in corporate America in senior management and have been practicing real estate for 20 years. Most recently, I’ve added reality television star to my list. I’ve always been known for my upbeat personality, classy demeanor and unexpected humor. After starring on Ready To Love on the OWN Network, I have developed a broad platform and have been asked by many fans to assist them with mentoring, counseling, and advice in love and dating. After becoming a fan favorite, and deemed the “classy” woman on the show, that platform has afforded me the opportunity to strengthen awareness on various dating and relationship topics by appearing on numerous radio shows, blogs, and podcasts, as well as speaking on a women’s empowerment panel. Continuously I am sought after for relationship advice, and speaking engagements. Most recently I was asked to speak to students on the topic of cyber bullying as well as female inmates on self love, and female empowerment. Giving back is the real reward here and the reason I love what I do. My upcoming podcast will be available across multiple platforms by the end of March or early April. We will have discussions around sexuality, dating, and relationships where we will take a seriously humorous approach to the issues many face while dating and while in relationships. Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Juggling multiple careers and projects is never smooth. You tend to get caught up in the hustle and miss out on the important things like love, friends, and family. I had to take a step back and learn BALANCE. It is possible to have it all. You have to get out of your own way and learn to prioritize.
Please tell us about Season 2 Ready To Love.
After a brief dating hiatus, I was ready to tackle the Atlanta dating game. The opportunity arose and I decided to step out of my comfort zone on a journey to find love on television. (Crazy right!) It was extremely uncomfortable for me because I am not a serial dater. I am more of a low key person and one that is more laid back in her pursuit of men. The show is about 10 men and 10 women that date with the hopes of 3 couples finding love at the end. I managed to land myself into an interesting love triangle. After multiple dates, frustrations, and some amazing times, the triangle was dismantled and truth prevailed. I made it to the end! The show had its ups and downs and I definitely learned a lot. Who said good girls finish last?? They don’t, they take home the crown and someone gets the prize!
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
On the show, I wouldn’t have changed a thing. Things however got misconstrued with editing but overall I walked in my truth, stayed transparent, didn’t compromise my integrity, and was very happy with the outcome. If I could change other aspects of the past I would have learned to implement a much better work/life balance in my life and make time for things that matter most.
