Meet Dezjah Hutchins

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dezjah Hutchins.

Dezjah, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
Being born into the first family of a powerful pastor, it has always been instilled to me that I was destined for greatness and would follow the footsteps generationally paved for me. On the quest of finding myself, I discovered my love for the entertainment industry. In 2017, I started my modeling journey with just print; however, later in the year, I transitioned to runway modeling. I began doing multiple shows in the center of Atlanta gaining exposure from different media outlets including, Impact Magazine, Young Atlanta, Upscale Magazine, Sudanese Style, and many more as I worked with different designers and stylist in the industry. Upon my small success, I dived into acting as well granting me a lead role in an ongoing movie and television show.

While being in the industry has fulfilled me with joy, it didn’t all the way complete my happiness. In May of 2018, I was contemplating on the right decorations for my dorm room in college so I decided to start playing around with wall decor and letters. Not knowing the true gift I had, I started showing my friends my decorations and eventually it turned into a full business. Now as of 2019, I have a full blown interior design business specializing in letters, graduation decor, room styling, canvas art, and shoe customization.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
My art of design stems from the desire of telling a story. I handcraft and decorate wall decor based on my customers’ needs. Not only that I style rooms and consult different visions to make them come to life. The ultimate experience for my customers began with simply booking the specific item or event they want customized or decorated, and giving a brief description on what they expect to see. What makes me unique is being able to transform their thoughts into a reality and creating such a unique and luxurious piece in a matter of seconds. My inspiration is consistently evolving from trying different challenges thrown at me and I hope my customers can take away the connection between the art and their lives given it was created from a genuine place of need. My artwork is authentic and something worth utilizing.

How can artists connect with other artists?
For those looking to connect with other artists, my biggest advice is to never be afraid to take a risk. We live in a world, widely known for network, so let your light shine and go after your opportunities. Never let a no defeat you, but motivate you to push harder.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
You can see my work on Instagram at DezjahMoniqueCollections or Facebook Dézjah Hutchins. On both, you will find the website link and displays of my different work over the year. My personal and modeling page is found on Instagram at forever_dezjah. The biggest support I can ask for if not booking is at least subscribing and giving feedback on my blog to let me know what’s good, what you like, and even what can be better.
