Today we’d like to introduce you to Diallo Thompson.
Diallo, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
By six years old, I had already grown up around entertainment – singing, dancing, and acting. My father was a Bass player in a band in high school and college. My older sister had become successful as an actress and a singer, and my cousin and I would meet up every summer and come up with as many dance routines as we could think of. Since then, I decided that this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Growing up, I would audition and perform in a plethora of plays and musicals. These included the story of Moses when I was in 1st grade to Macbeth my freshman year of high school.
In 2016, I booked my first major roll in the film “Barbershop: The Next Cut” directed by Malcolm D. Lee. I also starred in the Roger Bobb directed episode of the hit TV show “Mann & Wife” titled “Mann Shark”. I have also had roles in hits such as the Jerry Lamothe directed TV movie, “The Christmas Swap” that aired on TV One, and the upcoming feature film “The Hate U Give”, as well as many other projects I am working on. I also have aspirations of creating and producing my own films and have started writing, shooting, and directing skits and short films with the help of my friends and family.
Music is my other passion. I write and record Hip-hop/R&B songs in which I like to tell my stories and relay messages to my audience. I perform all around Atlanta and love being in the studio with other talented musicians and producers. My goal is to one day be like my idols such as Denzel, Will Smith, Leonardo Dicaprio and many more. I want to use my talents and my voice to inspire people just like me who think their dreams are too ambitious to reach.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Being an actor in Atlanta comes with a lot of pressure. As the film industry has grown here, so has the competition. Thousands of actors and actresses move here from all across the world to audition for the rolls that are located here. So when you’re a local actor with a small resume and little experience, it isn’t easy to break into the fold. For years I was auditioning with very little success. After a while, dealing with that much rejection starts to hurt your ego. For a while, I even considered if this was the right path for me, or if I should start looking at another path. Things tend to happen at the perfect time sometimes because around that time is when I ended up booking a role in “Barbershop: the next cut”, and since then I haven’t slowed down.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Diallo Thompson story. Tell us more about the business.
I am an actor, musician, and content creator. I am most known for acting in movies and television. We as a company are proud of the fact that we strive to bring back great family-friendly stories that we all grew up on.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I wouldn’t say that luck is the reason for any of my success. Anything that has happened to me comes from me putting myself in the position for it to happen. I’d say I work hard in my craft and when opportunities presented themselves to me I try to be prepared to take advantage of them.

Hey, I am Diallo’s grandmother and I wish to congratulate VoyageATL, and how you conducted the interview with my grandson. Even though I am well aware of ‘D’s talent and ability to interact with the media, it is always satisfying to see that medium give him a voice! He’s from a strong, supportive family and we love him very much!
