Hi Diamond, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started very small, I started by encouraging people and young girls like myself to believe in themselves and actually reaching for the stars. With that being said, I started a business labeled Diamondberries.co for chocolate-covered strawberries during covid just to give people a chance to know that life is still sweet with so much bitterness happening in the world today. By helping others, I decided to take my own advice and help myself start a business that I can pass down to my nieces in the next generation. Helping young woman excel and succeed has always been a big part of my journey and still is till this day.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth road nothing worth having comes easy you have to work for anything you want in life. Working a part-time job 20-30 hours and running a business can be very overwhelming, but I remember praying for days where I would ask God what is my purpose and he finally gave me something that I enjoy doing and that is helping others and make others feel good while doing so. You will have days you are so tired, but you can not give up you have to finish strong. At the end of every bumpy road is a smooth road ahead I try my best to stay focused.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My brand is a black owned gourmet chocolate covered strawberries all hand made berries. I am known for having a nice treat to get you thru the day or even the week, I am known for keeping the romance in many relationships with the goodness of the strawberries I provide. What sets me apart from others is my creativity, I make different flavors of strawberries, Walnut, Cheesecake filling, Strawberry shortcake, Oreo, Milk chocolate, and white chocolate. What I am most proud of brand-wise is that I stepped out on faith to start a brand that I really love and have true supporters. I would like the readers to know anything you put you mind to you can have and it will come true, I never saw myself having and running a business but here I am at 21 years old up and running my business while working a job at the same time it is possible.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Yes, I have now is the best time I feel like to start a business right now people are supporting small businesses like never before because of the covid-19 crisis. Simply, because so many businesses are being shut down. My business have done an amazing job during this time. Mainly because people are sitting at home waiting on a nice treat to enter their homes to make them much happier during these sad times due to covid-19. My main lesson I’ve learned is to keep pushing thru the pandemic storms don’t last long make the best of it, the best way you can.
