Today we’d like to introduce you to Diana Bauld.
Hi Diana, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
When I was 8 years old, I feel in love with hair and nails. I would spend my allowance money on press on nails at family dollar. I completed cosmetology and barbering school and have both licenses already working in a salon. I wanted more for myself and to establish my own brand. My nickname is Hope and I wanted to provide a luxury experience for all my customers. This is where I came up with the name HopeLux Studio. Six months into having my LLC the idea of press on nails wouldn’t leave my brain so I created an extension of LuxPress where I provide custom press on nails for those who can’t wait around in a salon all day and for those who only like nails for special occasions.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
So far, just like with any business, start up the struggle of finding your audience and creating repeat customers. I’ve learned that staying consistent, keeping up with trends, and marketing on social media has really helped me reach out to more people.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I consider myself a Creative Artist, under my cosmology license I am a hairstylist and nail technician. I specialize in health natural hair, color, and cutting. Best known for color corrections and silk presses. As a nail technician, I am known mostly for my custom hand-painted press-on nails. I most pound of my LuxPress brand where I personalize press on nails which is currently my main focus. The think that sets me apart from others is the ability to get all service needed all under one roof.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
My advice with networking is to make sure you put yourself out there for others to be able to see your work, Facebook is a great tool to utilize when it comes to networking, there are so many groups that you can join to seek advice and to build positive working relationships with people within your same field. Also, pop-up shops, at first, I was a bit nervous about pop-up shops, but I’ve learned that you gain exposure from a different crowd that might not be on social media. Put yourself out there and trust in your brand.
