Meet Dj Cassius Cain

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dj Cassius Cain.

Dj Cassius, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Raised in Detroit my career actually started in Orlando, Florida post-graduation from Full Sail University at the age of 24. I started off doing mixtapes and passing my CDs out at the club let out and had well over 70,000 CDs with my mixes in seven months. Once the digital era began, I’ve collected 20+ million views from streaming. Staying consistent and doing anything I could to keep me relevant is what keeps me in the game. Even after the industry changed to paid streaming, I was still able to become a powerhouse dj and brand.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth ride at all. From the industry fakeness (friends, relationships, and business partners) is a constant struggle. I don’t let those things affect my work ethic because I know where I see myself and where I’m going. Staying true to myself and my vision is what drives me and anyone else in the industry trying to make something of themselves.

What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
My claim to fame was my mixtapes, the streets loved them and ate them up. A lot of artists I showed love to or even worked with at those times have blown up and I’m proud to say that I helped. Now, I do a whole conglomerate of things, management, distribution, concerts, digital marketing as well as still being a dj are some of the things I do. I’m most proud of accomplishing the things I set out to do from believing in myself too and never giving up. I still have a long journey and I’m not finished.

Do you recommend any apps, books or podcasts that have been helpful to you?
I don’t use books, motivational speeches or other people testimonies to inspire me. I like looking at the culture and the people to help me move. Whatever the people, “the streets” want is what I give them, I try to capitalize it, I don’t keep myself in the box. If the world is supporting the new challenge, trend or political issues I try to embrace it all and use my own logic in helping me get to the next step.
