Meet DJ Kemo of Juzz Born Entertainment in Stone Mountain

Today we’d like to introduce you to DJ Kemo.

As a producer, audio engineer, songwriter/rapper, and DJ Brooklyn-born DJ Kemo wears many hats as an independent artist. With 10+ years of industry experience behind him, Kemo, or previously known as Kemostry, knows a thing or two about what makes a song pop. His unique beats and unapologetic lyrics make for a bold, edgy sound that appeals to the masses while relating to the individual—a sensation that can easily be attributed to the artist’s sense of musical—we’ll just go ahead and say it— chemistry.

Like many artists, DJ Kemo’s foundation can be traced back to his childhood. Listening to his grandmother fill the home with melodies from the piano, which later evolved into Jay z, Biggie, Jadakiss, who inspired a young Kemo’s appreciation for music, and as an artist/producer. As a DJ, he was inspired by DJ Red alert who he was guided by to launch his career in a different but familiar direction where he caters to independent artists all across the country creating platforms such as: Juzz Roc The Mic” showcases which had 4 award shows in NYC and more currently “Talent Tuesdays” in the ATL. Today, he has inherited a similar dedication to his own craft. Although he wears many hats, his new favorite is being a father, he proudly admits, passing down generations of musical talent and skill.

As a former athlete, Kemo has retained a competitive spirit that is most evident in his hustle, and when combined with his dedication, this artist runs on an unstoppable drive that keeps him on top of his game— on stage, in the studio, or just simply on the 1’s and 2’s. With a daily goal of becoming better than the day before, it’s safe to say that the best is yet to come!

Has it been a smooth road?
Some struggles have been, finding the right people to trust in the circle. Although I’ve made some great relationships on this road, there are many who were only seeking interest for themselves which if it meant cutting my throat, so be it. Also, obtaining revenue became a hassle at one point. Whether it be to fund an event or just make funds to continue going forward-It was a slow process, but definitely worth it in the end.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
As a DJ and all-around musician, I think the advantage I have that sets me apart is my eclecticism. I literally listen to EVERYTHING so no genre is off-limits. It works great when I DJ because I can cater to ANY crowd. As a producer, it broadens the horizon for sounds to create.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The goal is to truly give a voice and power back to the Indie scene without being drowned out by the mainstream industry. The plan is by creating so many platforms on the “mainstream” level for exclusive Indie artists.
