Meet DJ Kurupt

Today we’d like to introduce you to DJ Kurupt.

DJ Kurupt is a well-known DJ who has widened the arena to the Hip-hop culture. Using his brand, Street Corner Radio, he has solidified his mark in the industry as one of the top Mixtape DJ’s with the frequent releases of his Hip Hop and R&B mixtapes and radio shows like Street Corner Radio. In 2004, he was tapped by Def Jam record label to help introduce R&B Superstar, Ne-Yo to the world by producing his first mixtape ever. He was also one of the first DJ’s approached by G-Unit records to showcase 50 Cent on a mixtape. DJ Kurupt is also well known for organizing showcases for upcoming local talents as well as stage shows for well-known artists and spinning in clubs throughout the U.S. He has also Dj’d and made numerous appearances on TV and radio shows, such as BET’s 106 and Park and Sirius/Shade 45 and more.

Has it been a smooth road?
On February 4th, 2015, around 4 am in Atlanta, Georgia, Calvin Cooper, otherwise known as DJ Kurupt, was dropped off at Grady Memorial Hospital with gunshot wounds to the head.

Investigators were not sure how he got shot and who brought him there. For three weeks he remained in a coma. Ultimately, with God’s help, he miraculously pulled through to live a life of deeper meaning.

The book he writes charts the course of his inspirational life, his music career, the tragic shooting and his road to recovery. The Day I Died, A Meeting with God, is a story for anyone who struggles with obstacles in life and how belief in a higher power can turn tragedy into triumph.
