Today we’d like to introduce you to Dmc Global.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Dmc Global. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
So it all started during Christmas of 2015 and it was a decision I made between either rapping or making beats, and I knew I really wanted to make music; but when I first looked up how to make beats it looked too hard at the time. So I’d say a week or two went by of me tryna rap and it was too hard for me to come up with lyrics at the time, so I said f**k it and I told myself I was just gonna learn how to make beats. I started out watching this producer on YouTube and I was really fucking with his content, so I hit him up and bought all my first sounds from him. After this, I started actually making beats myself and everything was fun because I was learning, but of course, my beats was trash then and I took hours on them. Crazy thing is too I didn’t start out with all the tools I needed, I used to have to hook my laptop up to my tv through an HDMI cable and use the soundbar hooked up to my tv just to make beats, and what makes it worse is that I had to sit right in front of my door just to do all that.
In July 2016, I met my boy Quam who is Waka’s brother. At that point, they was the first industry people to fuck with me so we had been just working and I was sending Quam beats for Waka most of the time and he would get other rappers on my beats too, so I’m always thankful for them. At the time though, I was still in school and Southside the producer was fucking with my beats; Quam wanted me to focus on school though no matter what cause he knew I valued the music more than anything and because of that he told me to finish high school and then they’ll sign me. That always kept me motivated to do good. In November of 2017, that was when I met my dawg Quay and it’s funny because I was hitting him up to work. I never knew that would’ve turned into what’s going on now though. When we first met we had a good conversation bout music and shit and then eventually led to us teaming up because I saw the vision and it really opened my eyes up.
Ever since then, I’ve been slowly going up and I eventually met my boy Guap Tarantino. If you don’t know who that is he’s a rapper from FBG, but I got the most hits with Guap though. It’s so many in the vault but the songs we got out now are Block Boy, Road Rage w/ Lil Gotit and then All Week just dropped on his newest tape Charge Em Up. I feel like we got no choice but to go big, we got real chemistry and we got too much good music for us not to. I’ve worked with other artists too like Yella Beezy, Key Glock, and Kevin Gates even did a remix to Block Boy. I’m humble about the talent that I have and the work I do because I know God can change it all anytime. Just give us like five years, I feel like we can be running shit by then cause music is too easy for us. Global Gang is gone be a familiar name for sure. One thing I can say though before I wrap this all up is that I feel like this was destined to be, I grew up doing music during my childhood and then I did band during middle school. I played percussion at that. So everything really adds up to why I’m where I’m at in life right now.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve had hard times mentally. Questioning myself and if I would make it. Things are tough when everything is slow.
Can you give our readers some background on your music?
Our sound is what makes us special. We are consistent with the beats, everything we make gotta be a hit. I care about quality more than quantity but it’s always important to make as many beats as you can though. We having real vibes too, it’s always fun when we all link up. We really like a family, we don’t gotta be just making music to link up. That’s important in building a good team, gotta care for each other.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Definitely, my boy Quam like I mentioned before, he was the first person I met from this industry. He gave me a lot of help when I needed it. A couple of my friends from growing up too believed in my music from the start. I really didn’t have too many people around me though.
