Meet Donavan Morgan of Roofs By Don in Doraville/Kennesaw

Today we’d like to introduce you to Donavan Morgan.

Donavan, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I originated from Fort Lauderdale, FL where I owned my own business doing sales and marketing for moving companies. I moved to Atlanta, GA to find a different career where I could still make 6+ figures and at the same time have a good quality of life. In Atlanta to get the ball rolling, I started doing door to door sales where I met one of the owners of Roof US. He tried to recruit me for about a month before I decided to give them a shot after seeing how much could be made by doing sales in that industry while helping homeowners at the same time.

In under a year, I was able to hire 20+ salesmen on my team and also implement a sales training program that helped bring our office to one of the fastest growing roofing companies in GA. Going from 1 to 5 locations in under a year, as well as one of the most diverse in age and race, we’ve increased revenue over 600%.

Has it been a smooth road?
As I didn’t start as a roofer, the learning curve is always something you have to just get over. The first couple of months was definitely hard as far as just feeling comfortable on being on steeper roofs, to finding the right houses that had enough damage to get approved through insurance. Having the right team is everything and Roof US believed in me and gave me the tools for success to make things easy.

I do roof replacements paid for by insurance. Insurance pays for storm damage so I offer free inspections in storm-damaged areas and inform homeowners how to get it replaced if they qualify. I’m most proud of our customer service and quality of work. We use the #1 shingle provider and offer white glove service. We want every customer to feel as this was as easy as placing an order on Amazon.

The experience is what separates us. You can get a roof from any company, but making it feel easy and fun all while getting someone to pay for it is the hard part and that’s what I’m good at.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the culture of the city and how it’s more diverse than others. It gives you a sense that anyone can make it as long as you put it hard work and dedication. The least I like is traffic during rush hour, although it has decreased since Covid-19.
