Meet Downtown Videographer and Photographer: Tyler Harp

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Harp.

Tyler, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have grown up loving to watch and make videos from parodies for class and even short films. I enjoyed it so much I got my parents to get me my first camera for Christmas and after that, I wanted to take a deeper step into the art. I want to become an editor for a major film company as well as create my own films. With photography, I enjoy it as much as video. I can take an image of anything and create something I think is amazing to look at. I feel like I can learn how to add my own concept to a picture through color correction and make a picture have a story to tell just based on the colors itself, let alone the model. From just watching youtube videos I learn so much more to add to my arsenal of what I can do to an image or video.

Has it been a smooth road?
Just like life it has its ups and downs. From people not showing up for a scheduled shoot or having your sd card become corrupt, you may never know what may happen. But I feel like the hardest thing in this industry is exposure. This field is saturated with people that can create amazing images and videos so it’s always hard to stand above the rest. But always hustling to make your work get out there is a necessity to becoming what I want to be.

How would you describe the type of kid you were growing up?
Growing up I was very social throughout my school and had really no problems with other people. Everyone seemed to like me and was always happy to talk to me. I had an early interest in drawing but after I started playing sports my focus shifted to more of the photo video world because I wanted to capture reality.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
One of my favorite memories was around 8th-grade summer. Me and all my friends were staying the night at my friend’s house and we sneaked out the house to hang out later. We walked all the way to ihop that was close by and just was acting crazy throughout the streets from playing ding dong ditch to drumming on a stop sign and screaming at the top of our lungs.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
In the future, I want to become a film editor and start my own studio for collaborations of film/photography, dance, and music. This year I am hoping to win the annual film contest at Georgia State called campus movie fest and just to gain more exposure through photography and be able to network with all types of people.

• 1 location $30 per hour with 10 edited pictures.
• 2 locations $50 per hour with 20 edited pictures.
• For video, $40 per hour with an additional flat $50 for editing.
• All photoshoots, customer can be able to receive some unedited pictures if wanted.
