Meet Dr. Christopher Daniels of Motherland Connect

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Christopher Daniels.

Thanks for sharing your story with us, Dr. Christopher. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Motherland Connect was created to help eliminate barriers to international travel for African American students. We originally began with the simple belief that all students from HBCU’s should get the chance to see the beauty of the African continent. We also have taken pride in ensuring that when we bring students to Africa, they get a truly authentic experience.

Over the years, we have expanded greatly taking students from FAMU, Howard, Spelman, Morehouse, Clark Atlanta, Bethune Cookman, Hampton and more. We also have expanded to begin bringing students from PWIs such as Florida State University and the University of Nebraska, amongst others. We have also allowed faculty, staff members and alums to travel with us as well. In total, we have taken over 500 people out the country and have plans to expand even more.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The biggest challenge is the “behind the scenes” work of planning logistics for hundreds of travelers. As one can imagine, it is a lot of hard work and leads to an abundance of sleepless nights. Luckily we have an amazing team that always gets it done.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Motherland Connect – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Motherland Connect is a travel company that specializes in international cultural immersion experiences. We are most famous for our signature spring break trips that attract 100s of students from all over the country every year. What sets us apart is the extra mile we go for our participants.

For many of our travelers, it’s their first time leaving the country so we are sure to walk them through everything they need to know to have an amazing time. We also make our packages all-inclusive to make the process of traveling as easy as possible. The thing we are most proud of is the fact that we’ve been able to take 100s of students from HBCUs and connect them back to their African heritage. When most tour companies were overlooking HBCUs, we made them our speciality and it has been an overwhelming success.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Our next big challenge is expanding and adding new countries on our list of destinations. We know have trips to every continent and want to continue to expand. We’d also like to partner with other travel companies and international education providers to expand the amount of people participating in the trips.
