Meet Dr. Dan Batchelor in Roswell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Dan Batchelor.

Dr. Dan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
After moving to Atlanta in 1977, I attended life Chiropractic College in Marietta and earned my doctorate at the age of 25.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Before I had graduated I had become one of the top 10 middle distance runners in Atlanta. When I began practice my reputation had already been established as an athlete. When I added the shingle of Doctor of chiropractic to my name, great things begin to happen. Patients came in because they wanted to go to a Doctor who is also an athlete and someone who practices what they preach. Some of my training partners as well as my patients are world class athletes. One training partner had one the Peachtree Road race three years in a row as well as the world car some of my training partners as well as my patients are world class athletes. One training partner had won the Peachtree Road race three years in a row as well as the world cross country championship. Another was number one in the country for 10 case and another training partner was in the 96 Olympic marathon. They were my training partners as well as my patients. Other patients include Atlanta Falcons, in addition to professional soccer players, professional basketball players, professional hockey players, Olympic track and field superstars but most of our patients were local residents

Please tell us about Dr Dan Batchelor.
Many of my patients were Olympic athletes and professional athletes. While in practice I continue to train and Win Road Races, mountain bike races, kayak races, and triathlons. I would travel around Georgia and the south speaking at different athletic events. I was interviewed on CNN, became a columnist for the Georgia Runner magazine and was an expert consultant for runner’s world magazine in there point-to-point section where runners would write in with questions and I along with other experts would answer them. I spoke at medical universities, high schools and colleges. The usual topic was the prevention and rehabilitation of athletic injury. Eventually I had also won the Atlanta half marathon at Six Flags as well as the Subaru challenge triathlon

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
As a child, my parents had never told my brother and I “no”. I remember when my brother was climbing the tree with some neighborhood boys. The neighbor’s mothers were yelling at their sons to get out of the tree because they were climbing too high. .I remember my mother telling my brother to climb higher. As a child I would swim across the lake by myself, cut down trees in the forest with an ax by myself, ride all day long on my bicycle just because I enjoyed it and not just to go somewhere
