Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Erica Gamble.

Erica, get us started, please tell us your story, from the beginning.
I had a passion for wigs at an early age. I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio and always witnessing Grandmother “Bessie” Aunt “Bea” and mother “Rosa” snatched up in fashion and powerful wigs which I call “hair hats” lead to the Wig Dr’s. inception. “Hair is an accessory and I believe it is important for a woman to look and feel her best each day and it all starts with prayer and “good hair”. Having an earned Doctorate Degree in Organizational Behavior and Leadership coupled with over 20 years of Leadership and Higher Education success brought me to my passion. The Wig Dr. is also offering Hair Loss Consultations and treatments as a result of the huge impact that hair loss has on the community.

The Wig Dr. specializes in quality wigs and hair pieces for men, women, nd children. We provide solutions for hair loss due to Chemotherapy and Alopecia. Has it been a smooth road?
The road has been rough as with most small business/entrepreneurs. Marketing and support are the main keys to success. Many of the marketing strategies that are offered are unaffordable for someone starting out. I took advantage of free marketing opportunities such as using social media platforms such as Facebook, IG, and Twitter, etc. but those provide limited resources. In addition, word of mouth is really important. My first location was a challenge basically because it was in a male dominate location. I was located next to a gun store, tow truck company and Day Laborer Agency. My clients would reiterate the level of discomfort they felt coming into the shop. Lastly, finances are major! If you don’t have all of the finances that you need for inventory, products, marketing etc…You can find yourself going in circles. It’s a challenge, but I plan to keep pushing!

I am proud of the fact that my clients come back. I service a large community of cancer patients that are going through treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation. I love partnering with the local hospitals in the community and being able to serve.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the city of Marietta. This is a city where I purchased my home and where great things really happen!
East Cobb is vibrant, busy and affluent at its best. I am meeting great people each and every day!

I love the events that Marietta offers and the myriad of small businesses that are represented within the city as well.
