Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Felicia Phillips.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Dr. Phillips. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Taking advice from my father, great-grandmother, and uncles, who were all profitable business owners, I began my entrepreneurial journey at the age of 19 while still in college. I often say “entrepreneurship is in my DNA.” By the time I was 21, I had created my first 6-figure business, United Helping Hands. I later sold the business and became a real estate investor which gave me the investment capital to become a serial entrepreneur. I learned the good and challenging parts of entrepreneurship early and realized I needed to diversify. From there, I launched two 7-figure businesses in real estate and technology, raised capital for small businesses, took products to market and I even invested in a global logistics company. I was willing to take risks in order to be successful.
Today, my award-winning firm helps corporations with there supplier diversity and training initiatives as well as helping small businesses to build the right strategy to help them grow and scale.
As a wife, mother and business leader, I understand the difficult balance entrepreneurs face and I am committed to helping birth their vision, manifest their dreams and increase their wealth.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road of entrepreneurship is the most faith-based journey your will ever take. Yes, I’ve bumped my head a few times along the way. The crash of the economy really affected my businesses. It felt like one day, I was on top of the world and the next there was nothing.
We struggled with cashflow, credit because the revenue wasn’t coming in and just the time it took to get back on our feet. Going through something like that can crush a business owner. However, there was one thing no economic downturn could take from me and that was my knowledge. I leveraged my business knowledge and know-how and started over.
I began coaching and mentoring startups and other small business owners. Now I help not just small businesses, but corporations, non-profits, and government agencies with business strategy, diversity initiatives, and training.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with PPICW – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am CEO of PPICW an award-winning consulting agency specializing in business strategy, program development, and diversity training. As a Master Business Strategist and Coach, I have more than two decades of experience in advising senior leaders with municipalities, corporations, and non-profits in developing and implementing innovative initiatives and training that create economic impact for both their company and small business enterprises.
What I am most proud of and what sets us apart is that our work positioned us to become the 2018 Georgia Minority Supplier Diversity Council’s Class I Supplier of the Year. Our team deserves this award because with everything we do we strive for excellence. The other thing I’m most proud of is for the past four years, we have taken the time to bring women-owned businesses together to give them an experience, known as MogulCon, that will position them to be their absolute best as CEOs. We help them build empires!
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I’m a native of Atlanta and yes, I’m proud of it. I love its diversity and culture. I also feel like opportunities are endless here.
What I like least is like most of us here in the city, the traffic.
