Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Janelle Davison.
Dr. Davison, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am an expert Optometrist, with more than a decade of experience in eye health and prevention, specializing in Ocular Surface Disease. I am the Founder and Clinical Director of the Brilliant Eyes Vision Center. This well-respected vision center offers a unique eye spa, Premier Dry Eye Spa, for advanced Dry Eye Disease and cosmetic eye care. The eye spa was born out of necessity! In 2018 “Falsies” made their mark on the cosmetic and make-up scene. Everything from strip lashes, magnetic lashes, and individual lashes were now apart of the daily make-up routine for most women. Every day in the clinic, I was getting questions from patients regarding my recommendations and where they should have services done. Patients started requesting I provide these types of services in my clinic to ease their concerns.
In the fall of 2018, I started having so many patients come into my office with eye complications secondary to wearing lash extensions. My most memorable case was a woman who was pregnant with a severe eyelid stye and mites on her lash margin. Her condition was secondary to over wear and improper cleaning while wearing individual lash extensions. Treating her was a challenge due to the pregnancy. The lashes were removed, she was treated, and her condition improved. It was at that moment I knew I had to implement a space in my clinic dedicated to educating and guiding women on their beautification journeys! I am all for enhancing your ocular appearance. However, my job is to keep your eyes safe and prevent complications such as dry eye disease, cornea abrasions, styes, lid mites, and Meibomian gland dysfunction.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The journey to launching my eye spa was very smooth. I was able to design, develop and implement this unique eye care experience in 90 days. I converted an extra office spa into a cozy spa with state of the art dry eye therapies and aesthetic services provided by some of the best-licensed estheticians in metro-Atlanta. We launched in November 2018, and we hit the ground running. It was such an easy transition that I am creating an online academy in April to show other eye care providers how to implement this unique experience in their practices.

Our eye spa is a unique addition to the West-Cobb Marietta community. The spa offers the convenience of eye spa services, specialty dry eye services, and routine eye care all under one roof.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I can honestly say I have no regrets! The concept is unique and inspiring. I am really happy I decided to get off the sidelines and provide a safe and convenient space for my patients to indulge in ocular enhancements and specialty care.
